Kristen's POV
I was counting down the seconds until lunch. 74 more seconds to go.
I was in gym with Matt and all the coaches had been doing for the past hour was talking about physical activities we could do outside of school.
"What sports do you play?" Matt asks, obviously as bored as I was.
"Soccer, swim, sometimes volleyball." I shrug as my eyes focus on the clock.
"Cool." Matt wraps his arm around me and I rest my head on his shoulder. I didn't really mind the awkward glances other students were giving us.
"30 seconds 'till the bell rings." I yawn while grabbing my stuff.
"Good, I literally almost fell asleep." Matt picked up his binder.
"Same here." I laughed.
The bell rang and everyone's eyes shot open. Matt and I rang out of the gym and down to our lockers.
"See ya later Kristen." Matt yelled at me as we went our separate ways to our lockers.
"See ya Matt!" I waved and dashed to my locker. I swiftly turns the dial and unlocked my locker. I shoved my books in and pulled out my lunch. Finally.
"Kristen!" I heard Tay's voice shouting my name. I turned and was approached by Tay, Madison, and three other girls I've never seen before.
"Girls this is Kristen." Madison informs the three girls.
"Kristen this is Dylan," Madison points to a strawberry hair colored girl with a cute light pink tight dress on. "This is Shay." Madison points to a short girl with ombré hair.
"Love your hair." I smile.
"Thanks." Shay flips her hair.
"And this is Paige." Madison points to a blonde with a crop top showing her pierced belly button.
"Hey." I give a small wave.
"Kristen is a new member of our group!" Madison squeals and the girls jump and race to Kristen, engulfing her with hugs.
"Now... lunch!" Madison cheers and the girls cheer along.
"We have a lot to explain to you." Tay puts her arm around me. "Like... a lot." The other girls nod their heads in agreement.
"But no worries, we will explain everything at lunch." Shay claps her hands together.
We walk down a flight of stairs and into the large cafeteria.
"We sit at table 12." Madison points. "The one right in the middle."
The girls strut over in their tall heels to there table and sit down. I slide into a chair in between Madison and Dylan. Across from me is Tay, to the left of Tay is Paige, and to the right of Tay is Shay.
"Okay let's begin." Madison perks up.
"Number one, we need to work on your wardrobe. It needs something else, too bland." Paige's blue eyes look up at the ceiling searching for an answer.
"I know!" Dylan springs up. "Have this." Dylan hands me a golden necklace with tiny flowers attached to one another.
"Give it back to me at the end of the day though." Dylan twirls her hair with a grin.
"Thanks Dylan." I smile and clip the necklace around me neck.
"OMG! Just got the best idea!" Madison yells. The whole lunch room goes quite and everyone states at us. Madison motions for the girls and I to huddle.
"We," Madison whispers, "Need to have a sleepover tonight." Madison nods slowly and the girls quickly agree.
"Can that work for all of you?" Madison beams.
"Pretty sure." I answer.
"Good, then my house after school." Madison cheers.
I scan the cafeteria, in search for Matt. Quickly I spot him at the table right across from ours with Matt and all his friends.
I almost wanted to get up and go sit with him, but he was talking to all the other boys. I didn't want to embarrass myself.
"Kristen!" I hear Matt yell my name and my whole body fills with excitement.
"Ya?" I yell back to Matt with a smirk. I hear kissing noises coming from the boys sitting with Matt and my face reddens. I slowly walk over to Matt.
"I see you've already made friends with them." He motions to my new group of friends.
"Ya... why?" I ask with a sigh.
"Just saying, they can be pretty mean." Matt rolled his eyes. "All they want is the attention."
"Thanks for telling me Matt." Happiness spreads throughout my body. Matt cares about me, he's looking after me. I decide to give him a quick hug before I come back over to my table.
All the boys holler and cheer after we depart from out hug. Matt and I both laugh and go back to our seats.
"You guys should date." Madison takes a bite out of a carrot.
"Totally." The other girls echo.
"You know the Valentines Dance is coming up soon." Madison raises an eyebrow. "Maybe he'll ask you to go with him."
"Maybe." I sigh.
Maybe.
