Kristen's POV
I walk into first period and the first person I spot is Matt. He's talking to one of his friends.
"Matt, hey." I walk over to him.
"Kristen!" Matt motions for me to sit down in the desk next to him.
"How was your homeroom?" Matt asks.
"Good." I admit. I really wanted to ask Matt about Madison and Tay but I held it in.
"That's good." Matt smiles at me.
"Class! Everyone settle down!" The teacher yells. "Josh! Sit down!" She yells at a boy in the back of the class.
"I was just about to." He moans with an eye roll.
"Now everyone I have an important announcement." The teacher pauses for effect. "We have a new student, Kristen Woods." The teacher points to me and I slowly stand up.
"Kristen, my name is Mrs. Beck." Mrs.Beck stretches out her arm for me to shake.
"Ya Kristen! Whooooooo!" I hear Matt cheering and clapping behind me. The whole class goes along with Matt and before I know it, everyone is chanting my name.
I laugh and quickly head back to my seat next to Matt. The classes chanting slowly faded, until you could hear a pin drop.
"Okay now let's get to work on our projects." Mrs. Beck lifted a pencil. "I'm going to be assigning groups today and which ever group gets Kristen, will have to explain the project to her."" Mrs. Beck scans the classroom. "Okay?"
"Okay." Everyone answers.
"Group one, Maddie, Seth, and Olivia." Two girls in the front of the class squeal and hug each other.
"Group two, Spencer, Lacey, and Rachel." The all girl group hug each other with excitement.
"Group three, Matt-" I look at Matt and he looks at me. I pray that my name is going to be called next. "Madison, and Kristen." My mouth drops open and I silently cheer in my head. Matt reaches out for me and hugs me.
Butterflies shoot through my stomach as Matt wraps his strong arms around me.
Then Madison joins the hug and ruins the moment.
"OMG Kristen same group!" Madison yells after Matt and I split from our embrace. She gives me a quick hug.
"I didn't know you were in this class!" I say. "We could of walked to Homeroom to here together."
"OMG, so true. We'll start doing that for now on." Madison flashed a toothy smile and a wink.
"Okay so what's this project about?" I turn to Matt.
"It's pretty stupid but I'll explain." Matt pulls out a piece of paper and starts reading off it.
"We have to go around the school-" His voice drowns out as I drift away in a daydream. Matt was holding my hand, we were walking down the beach, we were laughing. Everything was perfect.
"You got it Kristen?" I snap out of my daydream.
"Um ya." I nod, still having no idea what the project was about.
"Okay, let's get started." Matt smiles and gently grabs my arm. "Mrs. Beck, we are going to do our project in the cafeteria." Matt informs the teacher.
"Fine by me." Mrs.Beck smiles.
Matt, Madison, and I all trot out of the room.
"Why the cafeteria? We never agreed on that!" Madison whines.
"Well I already told Mrs.Beck we are going to the cafeteria." Matt let's go of my arm.
"We aren't even going to make it to the cafeteria and back in time. We only have five more minutes." Madison huffs.
"Then let's just talk." Matt suggests.
"Kay! OMG Kristen I have soooo much to tell you about." Madison waves her arms in the air.
"Can we sit?" Matt groans.
"Sure." I shrug and plop down next to Matt on the cold hall grounds.
"No way am I sitting on that filthy floor." Madison shrieks.
"Just sit down." I laugh and pat the ground next to me.
"I refuse." Madison folds her arms across her chest and leans against the wall.
"Suit yourself." Matt laughs.
Suddenly the hall became completely silent. I could almost feel the awkward moment that was approaching.
I press my back against the wall and lay my hands on the ground. Slowly Matt's hand starts inching to mine. I let his fingers slip between mine.
"You want to walk to Chemistry with me?" Matt asks with a shy grin.
"Of course." I sigh with a smile.
"You two are so cute together." Madison squeals and forms a heart with her hands.
I open my mouth to say something back to Madison, but the bell interrupts me.
Matt and I both stand up, are hands still intertwined. We walked back into Mrs.Beck's room, grabbed are bags, and Matt guided me to Chemistry.
The whole way to our next class out hands were connected.
Matt never let go.
