After 2 hours in the trash can, I deemed it safe to come out. I ran over to the swarm of police officers. There was Avas body, my parents and other victims. As far as I could tell, I was the only survivor. I started crying. I couldn't stop the tears.
I pushed through the crowd and stood by a police officer.
"Excuse me, sir." I say
"Yes?" He responds. I can tell he notices my red eyes, my pained look.
"I can identify those people." I point to Mom, Dad and Ava.
"Go ahead." He tells me. I take a deep breath and point to my mom first.
"That's Harper Alice Waters." I then point to my dad.
"That's James Allen Waters."
My last person is Ava.
"Finally, that's Avalynn Fiona Waters."
"How do you know them?" He asks.
"Harper and James were my mom and dad. Avalynn was my sister." I say before breaking into sobs. I then step away from the police officer. I can hear him calling after me but I don't listen. I run and run, with no idea where I'm going. I end up at Central Park. I find a secluded area and sit down. I look up at the sky and say
"I love you Mommy. I love you Daddy. I love you Ava. I then start crying again. I just can't believe they are gone forever. I take out my phone and go to my videos. I click on my most recent one and play Ava's final words over and over again, like the echo of a ghost.
"I love you, Adelaide. Never forget that." The tears were flowing like a waterfall. I couldn't stop them.
"Are you okay?" A woman asks sitting down next to me.
"Not really" I respond. I knew I shouldn't have said that. But it was true.
"Why not?" She asks.
"W.....we....well my family was just s....sh...shot." I manage to say. I then let the tears come. I look down into my lap, trying to wipe away the tears.
"I'm so sorry." She says. "What's your name?"
"I'm Adelaide."
"My name is Phillipa, but please call me Pippa." The woman says. "Where are you going to go?" Pippa inquires. I shrug, still looking at my lap.
"Well, you can come home with me for the night, if you would like." Pippa
kindly offers. Why would I go home with a stranger? I finally look up at the only person who tried to comfort me. Wait. The person sitting next is Phillipa Soo. The only person trying to comfort me is a Broadway star. I nod.
"Sure." What did I just say. I'm going home with a total stranger. Sure, she's famous and she is probley not an ax murder but still.
"Well, come on then." She says
I stand up. Pippa leads the way to her home. It's beautiful.
"I'm home" She calls out.
"Pip!" Someone else yells.
"Mom!" I hear a voice cry from upstairs. Lin-Manual Miranda comes into the mudroom. So does a girl of about 11. That girl looks exactly like me.
A/N: So, hi. This is my first fanfic so sorry if it's awful and it seems like I'm stealing things from other fanfics. I'm not. So yeah. Cliffhangers!!!
