i huffed quietly to myself as i held back my snarky comments to the unbelievably rude customer waiting for her coffee i was making.she was complaining about how slow we are and how we need to speed up, only causing us to go slower, purposely pissing her off more.
i finally handed her coffee as i smiled sharply at her, telling her to have a fantastic day, and inside my head i hoped she would slip in the rain outside, and fall into a puddle.
i walked to the door following her out turning over the sign to closed as i locked the door relieved to finally be closing this place after the long day today.
"That lady was indeed an asshole." my coworker Blake said, i snorted and nodded my head agreeing making my way back towards the counter.
"indeed she was." i said quietly as i picked up white straw wrappers and plastic off the floor tossing it into the trash bin beside me.
"so whatcha doing after this?"
"what do you think i'm doing?" i said sassily, she rolled her eyes as she wiped the counter with a cloth.
"you are always at that studio, why don't you come to the club with Louis and i tonight?" she asked, i scoffed walking to the closet grabbing the broom and dustpan
"and be a third wheel? thanks, but no thanks."
"oh my gosh Amberlyn." she groaned, i raised my eyebrow at her as i swept the floor while she stared at me. "live a little."
"i'm breathing aren't i?" i asked sarcastically, she snorted at my comment and walked beside me nudging my side.
"come onnnn, you could meet a hottie." she egged on as i rolled my eyes.
"oh god , yeah cause the guys at the club are just fabulous." she gave me a look as if she was about to defend the fact i had a chance of meeting a decent guy there. "guys at the club only want to get in some girls pants for the night and forget them in the morning. "
"this is true." she mumbled throwing the towel by the sink across the room. "but hey it could be fun."
"i'm sorry Blake, i'm not feeling it tonight. It's been a long day."
"you suck so much y'know." she sighed, i chuckled as i swept the rest of the dirt and trash into a dust pan and emptied it into the bin.
"not as much as you." i said and winked at her as she gave me a disgusted look and walked away back around the counter as i laughed loudly.
"i hate you."
"aww, i love you too blondie." i cooed as she narrowed her eyes at me, i stuck my tongue at her playfully as i put the broom and dust pan into the closet again.
We worked in silence as we cleaned the shop, the silent music playing through the speakers softly making enough noise to not make it uncomfortably silent.
At last we finished cleaning and i was locking the door behind us standing under the pavilion watching the rain pour down before us.
"well, shit." Blake mumbled under her breath as she pulled her hair into a bun while wrinkling her nose at the heavy rain.
"afraid you'll melt, sweetie?" i asked as i stuffed the keys to the store into my bag hanging loosely on my shoulder, while i pulled out my car keys she turned her head as her eyes rolled and she huffed.
"no darling, but you might." she said pushing my shoulder as i fell slightly into the rain, i let out a noise at the coldness on my skin. i hurried back under the pavilion as i narrowed my eyes at Blake as she watched me amused.
"don't smile at me, ill push you in that puddle blondie." she laughed at my threat as i shivered at the cold sensation of the rain.
Her eyes averted to behind me as she watched intently, i arched my eyebrow turning to follow her gaze, seeing a tall lanky body running down the sidewalk towards our dry spot under the pavilion.
The black hoodie was held over their face as they ran avoiding the cold rain as much as possible, i watched curiously as they slowed in front of us. we turned slightly in the persons direction facing the person as they took off their hoodie and let their curls spring free.
or shall i say he let his curls spring free.
he lifted his head to meet our gaze as we watched curiously as to why he was running through the rainstorm towards us.
his green eyes flashed between us before turning to look at our dark coffee store seeing we were closed he groaned.
"aw man, did you guys just close?" his deep voice said his words stringing out slowly, i arched my eyebrow as i stared at him.
did he not see the closed sign?
"uh yeah about 10 minutes ago buddy." i said simply, Blake snorted at my blunt answer shaking her head as the boy before us sighed.
"shit, okay. Thanks anyways." he said softly as he flipped up his hood over his head turning back around walking down the street he came from.
"nice one Amberlyn."
"what?" i asked as she eyed me.
"he was cute, if you weren't an asshole you could've just unlocked the door and made the poor boy a coffee." she said simply i rolled my eyes shaking my head.
"we just cleaned everything, that would be stupid to just go dirty everything again for one coffee." i said simply, she shrugged.
"coulda been a nice thing to do."
"too bad i'm an asshole." i said as she laughed and nodded.
"love you for it though."
"good."
"but if you ever see him again you better make him the best damn coffee ever, i mean did you see his curls, damn."
"yeah doubt ill see him again, my asshole-y self probably scared him off."
we both laughed as we said our goodbyes and headed to our cars. I jumped into my car quickly as i shut off the ac immediately feeling cold from the rain as is.
I probably should've made that boy that coffee.
He was cute.
oh well, probably wont ever see him again anyway.
or so i thought...
