Joe's POV

The girls finished with Nancy in an hour’s time. Her hair was curled and her makeup made her look mature, sexy, even. They decided to drag her from the house to go shopping, leaving Izazya and I on our own.  We mainly sat in silence, I on the bed, him on the floor, leaning against the wall. His eyes were closed and I half expected him to be asleep; his face looked peaceful and he barely moved. That was until he finally spoke.

“Joe,” he said slowly, his eyelids being disturbed and opening slowly, to reveal his green eyes. “Would you like to go on holiday somewhere, I feel like I don’t spend enough time with you.” I was utterly shocked by his proposal. Why on earth was he suggesting this now?

“I guess that would be cool, but where would we go? You have no car.” I pointed out a little obviously. He smiled at me.

“Well, I can always hire a car; I’ve got the money now that I’ve started working. It’s good pay.” He answered quietly. “We could just go to a hotel beside the beach, if you want. A small cottage in the middle of nowhere. Something... Something that’s not too big.” He looked at me, as if he were anxious about this.

I nodded once. “That’d be nice.” I smiled at him, reaching over and taking his hand, entwining our fingers. He looked at our hands and then smiled.

“Give me another week, and then we can go. By then I should have enough money for us to go somewhere for two weeks. It gives me time to book it as well, and pack.” He grinned, an excited sparkle in his eyes. I laughed quietly. This was one of the strangest things Izazya had ever suggested, but I guess if it made him happy, I couldn’t complain.

Izazya left shortly after; he had to work. I showed him to the door and gave him a hug, ending up having to reach on my tip-toes just to get my arms around his neck. He chuckled quietly, his warm breath tickling my neck. I sighed and let go of him, taking a step back and smiling. He smiled back and turned to leave.

“I’ll see you soon!” I bid him goodbye a little too enthusiastically. He looked at me over his shoulder, a smirk on his face. I stuck my tongue out and he mocked me. He walked to the end of the path and began his walk home. I closed the door slowly, waiting for the click that followed shortly, signifying the door was secured in place. I sighed and began walking to the stairs, before I heard my mother call out from the kitchen.

“Joe, you’ve been spending a lot of time with Izazya. You’ve got very close.” I swallowed heavily. Did she suspect something?

“Yeah, I guess we have.” I answered casually, walking towards the kitchen. “Is that a problem?”

“No, no. I’m just worried...” She sighed, stabbing a huge potato with a knife repeatedly. Massacre of the potatoes?

“Worried about what exactly?” I asked curiously. She turned her head slightly, the knife stopping above her head. She looked crazy... Again. I swallowed and tried to stay calm.

“He’s a bad influence. I can sense it.” She said in a low growl, slamming the knife back down, securing the potato firmly to the wooden chopping board. Better the potato than me.

“Izazya? A bad influence?” I laughed nervously, “Why do you think that?”

“He just has that feel about him,” she replied. “Stay away from him.”

“Mum!” I yelled. “The other day you told me to invite him over, now you say don’t?! You can’t stop me!” and with that, I ran upstairs, slamming my door and locking it. I placed my chair under the door and under the door handle, making sure she couldn’t try breaking in or something stupid. She wasn’t right, again. I sighed, sliding down the wall, taking my phone from my pocket and staring at it.
