2 | PROLOGUEThe planet earth was a force to be reckoned with. It held a certain power that no one else could ever achieve. If the earth were to ever be angered, it could wipe out every species that infested its surface with one of its many elements: fire, water, air and earth (or soil).
The earth, of course, was not a living being. Although, it consisted of many systems of living organisms to function. Which was exactly why every 50 years the earth chose four people to control one of the four elements belonging to earth. The planet did this to keep sustaining life, and to conceal its power in a safe place— in a human.
Catalina da Silva was one of the four people to control one of earth's elements. And her element was water. Before her, the keeper of the power to control water was Catalina's grandmother, which was quite surprising because the earth never kept the power running through one bloodline.
Catalina was never exactly secretive with her elemental power. She was actually quite notorious for her use of the water. She was known, worldwide, for her infamous acts of abusing her power to hurt many with the seas she conquered. Catalina's misuse of the power could have spawned from the fact that she was already aware of the abilities that came with controlling water. Her grandmother had told her everything about storing the power to control water, which was in fact the strongest element from earth. So, when she gained the abilities for herself... she was eager to use the power for her selfish wants. Because of this, the people of the earth named her the Serpent of the Sea.
