When I awoke the next day, I was greeted with a pile of clothes with a piece of paper laying on top of them. I raised an eyebrow and skimmed the note quickly,
Wear this today.
- Alan x
I shook my head and put the clothes away, picking out something that I wanted to wear. Who gave him the right to tell me what I should wear, anyway?
After pulling on the clothes that I selected from my closet, I skipped out towards the kitchen and was immediately greeted by the smell of waffles cooking and coffee brewing.
As if Alan heard my footsteps, he spun around from facing the stove. He eyed me up, a flash of disapprovement passed through his eyes. “You aren’t wearing what I picked out.” He stated, his jaw obviously clenched.
“Uh, yeah. I wanted to wear this instead.” I smiled, trying to ignore how almost disgusted he seemed.
“Look, you’re under my roof now. My house, my rules. Now go change.”
“Bu-”
“No. Go change.” He seethed.
I folded my arms across my chest and leaned against the doorframe defiantly. “No.” I muttered, mimicking his pissed off behavior. What the hell has gotten into him?
At that moment, Alan’s scowl turned into a smirk, as if he was suddenly happy. “You remind me so much of Savannah.”
I raised an eyebrow, picking up a waffle from the plate and taking a bite. “Who’s Savannah?”
Alan’s eyes grew wide and shook his head. “No one, forget I said anything.” He nearly pleaded, before going back to cooking.
I sighed and shook my head as well. His off behavior was beginning to get to me. After finishing my food, I headed back to my room and got changed, just like I had been told, in order to prevent another outburst from the ginger-haired male.
Once I returned to the kitchen, I poured myself a cup of coffee and added some creamer that I had found in the fridge. I jumped up and sat myself on the counter, occasionally taking a sip from the mug as I watched Alan finish cooking.
I lifted my gaze and smiled when he turned around and held out a plate of waffles towards me, in which I took yet another one. Setting my coffee aside, I took a smile bite and swung my legs back and forth like a child. “What are we doing today?” I asked, tilting my head off to the side.
“Well I have to go back to the studio, so you’re gonna have the house to yourself again for a while.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Wait, studio?”
“Yeah.. Studio. I’m in a band.”
“What’s it called?”
“Of Mice and Men.”
“Never heard of it.”
“Of course you haven’t.”
The two of us fell silent after that, resuming eating, until Alan spoke up.
“You know.. We could go out tonight. Not like a date or anything, I’d have the rest of the band with us too.. And we could go out for drinks or something.” He suggested.
I shrugged, never being one to drink, but bars also had food, and wherever there was food, you could find me. “Yeah, sure.”
Alan smiled and nodded, placing our dishes in the sink. He let out a small yawn and looked at the clock on his phone. “Well I should be going then.” He murmured, grabbing his car keys off of the rack hanging on the wall.
“Alright.” I smiled, finishing off my coffee. “I’ll see you later.”
He simply nodded before leaving the house.

After hours of sitting on the couch and watching Supernatural, I flinched when I heard the door open and then slam shut, signalling Alan’s return. I paused the show and scrambled to my feet to greet him. “Hey!” I smiled, standing in front of him.
“Hey.” He replied, “We should get going, the guys are already waiting for us.” He stated.
When inside the bar, Alan made a beeline to the counter to join a group of four other people, while I took a seat at one of the small tables that were in the corner. It wasn’t long until a waiter came over and asked me if I needed anything. I looked over the small menu to the side of me before ordering an order of mozzarella sticks and shooting the girl a smile.
She nodded before heading off to the kitchen area to place the order, and I propped my chin between my hands, my elbows on the table in front of me. I glanced over at Alan, who seemed to be staring back at me, and sighed. The look in his eyes was almost telling me to come over there and join him, but I decided otherwise. If he wanted to talk, he would have to come over here by himself.
And that, he did.
Alan walked over with a beer in hand, and he seemed to be followed by the rest of the band. I inhaled deeply and held my breath for a moment, folding my arms across my chest. I wasn’t exactly good with meeting new people, and meeting four new people at once was a frightening thought, to say the least.
He smiled and took the seat across from me, while the others surrounded the table. “Hey.” He whispered softly, before looking up at the band. “Guys, this is Jacklyne, the girl I was talking about.” He beamed.
“Jacklyne, this is Austin, Aaron, Tino, and Phil.”
I nodded and stood up, shaking their hands in greeting. “Hey guys.” I forced a smile.
There was a weird look in Austin’s eyes, almost like he could recognize me and was scared by it. I shook it off as nothing and sat back down, just in time for my food to arrive.
I barely got to one of the pieces of food, as the guys helped themselves to it. I rolled his eyes, leaning back on the chair. I let out an awkward cough when Alan went to go for another beer, shaking my head no. There was no way that I was letting him drive me anywhere if he was drunk.
Alan seemed to ignore my gesture and went for it anyway, chugging it as if to annoy me. I glared at him and sighed, getting to my feet and storming out of the bar, just to be pulled back by the only and only Austin.
“Where are you going?”
"Home.”
Austin raised an eyebrow, “Why are you leaving without Alan?”
“Because it’s obvious that his intentions are to get drunk, and I am not getting in a car with a drunk man.”
Austin chuckled, “Understandable. Let me take you home, I haven’t had anything to drink, I promise.”
“That would be great, thanks.”
“Alright, let me go tell the guys we’re leaving and then we’ll get going.”
I nodded, watching as he quickly walked over to the group before returning, pulling his keys out of his pocket before leading me out.
When we were in the car, Austin looked over at me for a split second. “You know, you look exactly like a girl that Alan and I knew in high school.” He stated.
I raised an eyebrow, thinking back to what Alan said earlier about how I reminded him of someone. “Yeah, and who was that?”
“Savannah.”
