Prologue

All I could see was the repetitive scene of someone, who was dressed from head to toe in all black, shoving me off a cliff that had to be at least twenty feet tall, replaying over and over again in my mind like a broken record. It was all that I had left of what I believed could be the final moment of my life as I knew it. It seemed to be nothing short of a dream-a nightmare with no end.

But then I awoke.

The back of my head was pounding, which caused to instinctively touch it. When I retracted it, it was coated with a thick red liquid. Despite me being extremely light headed due to the massive impact I just had undergo, I was on my feet and running through the forest, where I was potentially left to die. The crunch of the leaves underneath my feet was muted by the pounding of my own heart. Every once and a while, it felt as if I was going to topple over and admit to my own fate, but I continued to push myself forward.

After what seemed like hours of pushing through tangled branches and tripping over fallen trees, I made to what could only be the route to my escape. A bright light shined through, as if leading the way, and I had no other option but to follow it.

When I finally made it out of the huge mass of trees, it was like I had stepped into a entire different universe. There were people hurrying down pathways in every directions, as if they were all busy or late for something important. I stood there with my jaw wide open, trying to make sense and take it all in.

Steadily, not trying to alarm anyone with my still-bleeding head, I placed one foot in front of the other as I made my way down the street - much slower than my competitors beside me. In return, some would shoot me a weird glare, and others would push passed me like I was nothing more than dirt on the bottom of their shoes.

I continued on my way, still seemingly gaining no interest from the others surrounding me. It was if I was invisible, or I was just in a city full of people who were too small for their egos.

No one help the injured girl, right?

The saying ‘it’s a dog eat dog world out there’ was awfully relevant - one would only look after themselves, and no one but themselves. It was harsh, but was the truth.

Getting lost in my thoughts, I had yet to realize that within seconds I would be walking right into the arms of a bystander, who seemed to be walking in a different direction than the rest of the people. Before I could even try  to stop the event from happening, I saw a blur of ginger hair before I found myself, for the second time today, laying on the ground.

A/N: Sorry it took me so long to write this. With school and writing my fanfic with Danni, I haven't had much time. This is really shitty and I'm sorry, but it'll get better with time. (Hopefully.)
