You were shy

And I was shy

So quiet you and frightened I

Talked with the truthfulness of hearts and eyes

Many a dream and many a sigh

Passed to you from I

Then I had to go

And to let you know

I broke our silence and named my woe

You shrugged, I supposed, with sorrow

Trembling, frightened, too quickly I moved go

Your reply not to know

Only hoping you'd know

A maiden's love for you so
