Chapter 7

I was awoken lightly by someone pulling at my covers. I opened my eyes to see Chance looking down at me.
"Goodmorning beautiful" he said smiling.
"Please go away" I said burying myself back into my covers. I had a sleepless night. Up thinking about the situation I had gotten myself into. I didn't even want to see his face I was so disgusted.
"Hey you should get up" he sat at the edge of my bed placing his hand on my back.
"Don't touch me" I said pushing his hand away.
"Is everything okay?" He asked, his face showing concern.
"Chance what are you doing ? What are we doing ?" I said sitting up.
"What do you mean ?" He asked confused.
"I'm stupid to think that you could care about me, that we could even be anything at all. I leave in a week and then we'll be across the country from eachother and odds are I probably won't see you again, you don't even know me" I said.
"What do you mean I don't know you Ava? Of course I do. I've never gotten closer with anyone in my life so fast than you. I lived in Ohio I can come visit. You can be apart of team ten I can talk to jake-"
"Please stop" I said closing my eyes.
"What's up with you?" He asked standing up .
"Just I like you Chance but I think we need to not do any of this anymore"
"Ava, what no I like you too much" he said.
"I think you need to tell that to Tessa, not me" . With that he left.
For most of the day I kept to myself and I hadn't seen Chance at all. Nor did I care to. It just sucked how he led me on to believe I actually meant something to him. I was in the office eating from a bag of twizzlers. A hand reached over and pulled one from the bag. I spun around in my chair to find Chance standing above me, twizzler in hand.
"Can we talk?" He asked, a solemn expression on his face.
"There's nothing to talk about" I said bluntly and spun back around to attend to my business on the computer.
"Obviously you're pissed at me, Ava I want to make this right" he said spinning my chair back around to him, himself.
"Obviously you're right, but wrong, there's nothing to be done Chance" I said.
"Look I know what you-" I cut him off "what I heard was that you fucked Tessa, even after you told me that she wasn't your type, bullshit" I said.
"If you could just hear me out" he said.
I ran my fingers through my hair and looked around, frustrated. "Fine, you have a minute" I said barely making eye contact with him.
"She left her charger for her vlog camera here, so I decided to be a nice guy and run it up to her parents house for her. They had me for dinner, and then before I could leave Tessa really wanted me to go to a friends party with her so I went. And we were both drinking and shit happened okay ? And I was just acting like that around the boys so they wouldn't think I was weak. But I swear to you Ava, it meant nothing and it was an honest mistake" he said, searching my face for any sign of relief.
"That's probably not what Tessa thinks, she really likes you... I just don't know what to say or do, Chance. I like you a lot but I leave in a week and I don't want to get hurt by you. I mean look at what has happened so far and we aren't even anything" i sighed.
"I don't ever want to hurt you, I meant what I said at breakfast, just please let's just start over" Chance said "I know it's a long shot but just live in the moment"
I sighed and pondered the thought. "I really hate you" I said sarcastically getting up from my chair. He wrapped me in a bear hug and I dug my face Into his chest, his cologne intoxicating. What was I doing, living in the moment.
