Graceland is a beautiful large white-columned mansion it has such beautiful architecture. The mansion is constructed of tan limestone and consists of twenty-three rooms, including eight bedrooms and bathrooms. The outside of the entrance way contains four Temple of the Winds columns and two large lions perched on both sides of the portico. Finally, I started to walk up to the door and as I approached the door swung open and there he was.
“Carolyn!” Elvis shouted as he ran at me in excitement at me as I froze waiting for him to run into me. I barely recognized him, I really couldn’t believe it, he was much more handsome in person.
“Elvis is that you?” I asked playfully as he gave me a bear hug. I was kind of paralyzed, I could believe I was finally with Elvis again after 10yrs of us being apart.
“Yep honey it’s me, you didn’t tell me over the phone how beautiful you had grown up to be” he flirted and I just stood there with a dorky smile on my face while Elvis looked at me with the same expression he did when we were kids.
“You think so?” I laughed as we just stared at each other it was almost awkward.
“Yes of course, how was your trip here?” he asked.
“My trip was good it was really good, I can’t believe I’m finally standing here with you I have really missed you Elvis” I said staring in to his big blue eyes and suddenly it felt like we were kids again.
“I’ve really missed you too honey. I’m really glad you were able to come visit me. What do you think of Graceland so far?” Elvis asked.
“It’s beautiful, I can’t wait to see inside” I replied as we turned around to head inside. I took his hand and he led me inside. When you walk through the front door of Graceland there is a Grand staircase, it’s carpeted in white and past the stairs is a hallway that leads to the living room area where Gladys and Vernon were sitting when we walked in.
“Mama look who was outside!” Elvis said excitedly.
“Carolyn, darling how are you?” Gladys and Vernon jumped up and they both gave me a hug.
“I’m good, thanks for asking, how are you?” I asked.
“We’re really good, were so happy to see you dear” Gladys said warmly.
“How was your flight?” Vernon asked just as Elvis offered me a seat.
“It was really good, sir I’ve never been on a plane before” I replied making sure to remember my manners.
“You can call us by our names honey you are like family to us” Gladys and Vernon said smiling.
“Thank you, I consider you my family also” I smiled.
“Mary, will you take Carolyn’s bags up to her room please” Elvis smiled at a lady who (I’m guessing was one of his house maids) came out into the living room when he said her name.
“Yes sir” she smiled taking my bags that sat at my feet. The table was being set for dinner, so we all walked over to the table. I sat next to Elvis on one side of the table and Gladys and Vernon sat across from us. Gladys made conversation by bringing up stories when we were little while we ate, we laughed as we reminisced about the past. After dinner I was starting to fill tired like everything just hit me. I must have looked suddenly exhausted too because a look of worry came over everyone’s face.
“Are you ok honey?” Elvis asked me as I sat next to him trying to wake myself up.
“Yeah, I guess I’m just a little tired but I’m fine trust me” I said.
“Are you sure? Because it’s been a long day for you plus a lot has happened” Elvis asked.
“Yes, I know but I am fine, I promise” I looked up at Elvis with a big smile.
“Come on little Mrs. I’ll show you where your room is” Elvis said playfully
”No, it’s ok” I smiled knowing I was going into dangerous territory by telling Elvis no.
“Did you just tell me no” Elvis said partly serious.
“Yes, yes I did” I giggled feeling like a little girl again. Elvis started laughing too. Then he picked me up and took me up the stairs.
“Goodnight” I called laughing as Elvis whispered in my ear.
“Why are you forcing me to go to bed, is it because you care about me?”
“Yes it’s also because I want you to be well rested” I looked at him and rolled my eyes.
“Hey” he said jokingly as we entered the room he set up for me. I moved my hands from around his neck and he dropped me on the bed and we broke into a fits of giggles, then he pounced on the bed next to me.
“Oh my…its like were thirteen again” I smiled.
“I wasn’t sure how it would be…you know me visiting and all because we both have grown up I didn’t know if it was going to be awkward between us it has been 10ys since we last saw each other” I reviled as Elvis sat next to me on the bed.
“I kind of thought about that too honey, it’s weird when you don’t see or talk to a person for 10yrs” Elvis agreed.
“I am really glad it worked out though and that it wasn’t weird” he continued.
‘Ya me too” my eyes started to get heavy as I smiled at Elvis.
“Ok get some sleep now honey I’ll see you in the morning” he got of the bed and kissed my head.
“Ok, night see you tomorrow…I love you” my eyes closed as he shut the light off and walked out closing the door. Elvis went back down stairs and both his parents were waiting to say goodnight to him and go to bed also.
