When I woke up I realized that I slept through the night and that it was my birthday. In my excitement I forgot about my sprained ankle and got out of bed and remembered as pain shot through my foot as I tried to stand up. I was so focused on getting out of bed that I didn’t even know that Elvis had walked into my room.

“Good morning beautiful what are you doing?” Elvis asked as I sat on the side of the bed now in pain.

“Oh Good morning Elvis, I just remembered that I sprained my ankle” I smiled feeling really dumb knowing he was in the room.

“Is there something I can get you?” he asked as he walked over and he hugged me.

“Yes please if you can hand me my new dress then I can limp down stairs when I’m dressed and get breakfast cause I’m starved” I asked him.

“Here is the dress, I will not let you try to walk I will carry you if you insist on going down stairs. Oh before I forget happy birthday honey” he kissed my head then left the room so I could get dressed. I hollered when I was ready “Ok Elvis.” He came in and picked me up just like he did when I first got hurt.

“It looks even better on you” we made out while in his arms.

“I love you so much, thank you” I kissed him.

“I love you too I would do anything for you honey” he smiled at me as he started walking down the stairs.

“Good morning birthday girl” Both Vernon and Gladys smiled at me. Elvis sat down across from his parents and I sat on his lap.

“Honey since I know you were really bummed about your birthday getting started off this way I have a surprise for you” he paused. And in walked in my parents with my best friend Arabella. I started to get off of Elvis’s lap when he stopped me by putting his arm around my waist.

“Hi sweetheart we heard about what happened. I am so sorry baby” my mother walked over and hugged me and then my father and last Arabella. I turned and hugged Elvis, “Thank you thank you” I squealed.

“You’re the best I love you so much” I kissed him. We ended up moving to the living room where there was more room for us all and it was more comfortable.

“Sweetheart when Vernon called to tell us what happened we contacted the school and we all agreed that it was best if you drop and start up again next semester since you shouldn’t be traveling with a sprained ankle” my mother explained.

“You’ll stay here until your ankle is better, or longer if you want” Elvis chimed in.

“Oh Elvis I couldn’t do that to you I’d be overstaying my welcome”

“No honey really I will love to have you here, this week I’m home but the next week after this upcoming week I am gone but I will call you every day I can and have mama check in on you” Elvis replied. Mother started telling her favorite memories about me when I was little.

“Mama, Elvis and his parents were there remember” I hid my face behind Elvis in embarrassment.

“Then there’s no reason to be embarrassed baby” mama laughed.

“I haven’t heard about you as a baby let’s hear those stories” Arabella giggled.

“Oh gosh don’t I’ll never hear the end of it” we all started cracking up this time as I rolled my eyes and shooting Arabella an evil look. We spent hours on the couch just talking it was really nice this was just like back in Mississippi way back in the 40’s.

“Let’s do presents!” Arabella smiled when the conversation started to dye down.

“I couldn’t ask for anything better then to have us all together like this. I love you all so much” I said joyfully.
