@ConfusedandCurious: Nicole, why do you do what you do?
Nicole: When I was ten, I walked into my brother's room excited to show him my birthday gift. Instead of seeing my brother's bright eyes smiling at me, I saw him hanging from the ceiling. No one knew what drove him to take his live. Even now, years later, I still can't figure out what went wrong.
His death destroyed my family. My parents were no longer happy and they drowned their sorrows in their jobs. I was a ten year consumed with grief and I had to deal with it on my own. I somehow blamed myself for his death. After all, he killed himself on my birthday.
At 15, I tried killing myself. In my unconscious state, I saw my brother (I have no idea if it was my mind's way of trying to stay alive). He refused to tell me why he did what he did but he apologized and told me that there were people out there that needed me.
For some unknown reason that day, Jehovah Witnesses came to preach and saw my body on the floor through the kitchen window and dialed 911. When I recovered, I made up my mind to help people who were struggling as I was. That's how this website came about.
