Chapter Two: The Second Part
Thank you for reading THE SECOND PART as titled above. Hope you enjoy this story as much as I enjoy creating it! Thanks!
The palace among the greatest mountain in all of Greece, Mountain Olympus is adorn with great pillars; temples and sanctuary for each immortal and god-like-figure among the mountaintops. It is the highest destination with a certain uniqueness. Each resident has his/her own castle and loft to spread across the golden, yet still cobblestone pavement of the mini city-state. Some of the castles were an off-white shade, beige or salmon color. Each loft with its own touch. Unique from one another.
The center of the city-state is the Pantheon; a set place for the council to discuss great events and mankind. Right now, mankind did not roam the Earth, however, the king of the mountain, of Greece had a set motion to bring his carved clay civilians alive at once. The last set of his plan was to create a situation where his dearest sister, Demeter would harvest for his creatures. However, she would not help create such a species that could speak the same language as theirs.
Everything for this special occasion has been in preparation for months. The wild blossoms were now hanging off of vines in such beauty. The cobblestones were refinished with finishing touches of copper; bronze; silver and gold every so often. Different roofing, new curtains, painted lofts, and jeweled tapestry outside. There were freshly polished glass-iron doors and golden engraved gates at every corner. Between each villa; there were fountains; statues and great gardens. This place had the appeal of paradise written over the astonishment of exterior.
Demeter's daughter, kore, born in the center of the city-state at the pantheon. Her back on the cold floor as both Hera, Zeus and her nymphs were by her side as she pushed. The newborn, as most immortals were born with their eyes closed. The shrieks of the babe had awakened the whole neighborhood and each prominent figured showed up including; Rhea, the grandmother to be.
Demeter knew that her daughter will be the first child born of Zeus within the new age of Greece. The first of the new Olympians. However, she did not know of the fate her child would have. Would her child be safe on the mountain, or not. The thought of her newborn's fate makes her push harder for the child to be released from her wound. As if her child could sense her anguish; her wound blazes itself physically as the final push is near.
Born, the child is clay, ready to be sculpted by the others surrounding the two.
-Later - After the Prophecy Recitement -
Surrounding the newborn daughter and mother: all of the parties start to groan. Fate. Really? That was a sure fire way to wreck a party. Even more of a wreck than a million things were running through the young goddesses' head and that one damn property could not be comprehended. Never mind, for the fate,'s to retell the future. She had enough.
Sobbing loudly, crystals run past her cheeks and onto the stone pavement. Demeter is battered like a Nerf-gun-toy. Pointing at the crook nose witches, she screams. "OUT! OUT! OUT OF THE PANTHEON, WENCHES!"
Before the witches begin to move away, one of them speaks out loud, like a heed of the warning. "Kore will be stolen."
On the ground, no longer for a care in the world, the young mother cries. Her child not safe? Ever? It can be at any time, any place. Certainly, at her father's side.
The whole Pantheon is echoing of how poor Demeter is to be. How cruel the fate were to the immortal. Who were it be? Guessing another child of Zeus. Or even Poseidon himself. His gift to the newborn child had outdone everyone. The most beautiful creature, for the most beautiful woman. Meant to be the mother, however, now gifted to the daughter.
Although, the world has not met the wrath of Hera when Zeus brought home a newborn from an affair. Maybe, she wanted the daughter all to herself? The thought of Hera sickens her sister.
Murmurs were changing tides like wildfire on a blueberry field. There's no way, gossip could end with much of a society as they were. They were bound to be drama queens. Even the nymphs whom shouldn't speak at all. Some gods and goddesses were singing their glasses of wine and other finery drinks as they all knew that properties meant specialties. Specialties meant celebration.
The crowd starts to celebrate with an endless supply of cheerfulness. The fact that the goddesses in honor were not joining the celebration becomes a huge blow to Hera, who organized the event. No one cared but Hera that the party was ruined for Demeter.
Racing towards Demeter, her sister Hera faces the wrath of an anguish goddess of the harvest. Helping her sister off of the cold ground, Demeter spites at the Queen. Hera is taken aback by the response. The two of them give each other cold stares as Zeus announces that his dearest brother Hades has arrived at the hall.
Everyone, including Hera and Demeter, pauses for a moment. The two set aside their difference as a new threat arrives. The Lord of the Underworld; the abandoned brother, who by fates' choosing had received the little stick. The bad end of the bargain. The worst fate of them all. She nearly forgot that her oldest brother had to gift the newborn as well.
All of the Pantheon was frightened.
The kings of the Pantheon; The Olympians and of the immortals, mortals and other mythical creatures stands next to his eldest brother like a brave knight. A king would. However, even Zeus was frightened of it. Of course, Hades took it all in, he knew that they all thought of the worse of him.
Eyeing everyone down around him; the god of the dead grins as he steps towards the freshly sculptured newborn in the cradle. He already knew what his gift would be to the young goddesses. She's special indeed with those ocean eyes and golden rivers as hair. It's contrast her mother: the goddesses of harvest, nothing too attractive about her. Bland.
He comes to the attention that it is his turn to speak and to share the gift of the child with the world. Smiling to the crowd he gently snatches the newborn and snuggles her. Everyone except Zeus is afflicted by his sudden actions. Everyone dropping their mouths wide open, even the harvest goddess herself. Zeus is another entire story. He feels the adornment that Hades has towards the beautiful child.
The Lord of the Underworld clears his throat as he watches the child within his muscular arms. What Hades says threatens everyone, even Zeus. "Have you heard about the properties? The witches I sent? I could have snatched this beauty, you all know. And even the father could have done nothing. He owes me a blessing." Winking at his youngest sibling, youngest brother before continuing; which leaves a bewildered king. "I am not here for a child though."
In anguish, Zeus tries to hide his wrath from the others. Snapping at the other king, Zeus declares his boundaries. "Bestow her brother and be gone for good!"
"Good riddance!" The other brother, Poseidon screeches in protections of the redhead child.
Patiently waiting for the hall to calm down, he shushes the newborn and rocks her gently like a mother would. The child slowly falls asleep in his arms as the noise is no more. His efforts at 'playing' family-friend, really astonished some of his relatives. Especially, the intimate ones. "As you wish dearest brothers. For the beauty, my sister, the queen Hera has to adorn the blessed newborn. For the woman, she'll become." Giving both the parents a cold stare he continues. "For she who vanishes the light." Everyone screams at the harsh reality. The old man knew that everyone on Mount Olympus is too emotional to think straight. Always negative results from the crowd. All of the sudden, the grim immoral pricks the newborn's fingers and taste the drops with his long tongue sticking out for the world to see with disgust. As he finishes, a sweet smile is placed on his lips. With a dagger in his pocket, he leans towards the left and punctures himself, leaving everyone speechless. He then places the palm of his left hand above little red in his arms and everyone watches as the few drops of crimson from his palm falls straight into the infant's mouth.
At this point, no one could stop the horrid man from his ego. Disowning such a ladylike Demeter, were the same as her rights being taken away. In which case, blood magic, or not, she could never forgive her older brother for something she could not understand. The goddess of the harvest knew nothing of blood magic or sorcery at all. Within the next moment, her mourning turns her into a shallow being. He had done something terrible.
"I will gift her her true name, Persephone."
