Edd was in a good mood. He was jotting down lyrics and notes for a song. This time, he would use his acoustic guitar as the instrument, so it would sound better. The lyrics swam in his head as he wrote them down.
He'd gotten the idea to write a love song for Tord, as usual. But, he wanted this to be softer, slower. Better. Being in love was a big thing for him. Probably the most important thing in his life right now.
Tord was... perfect for him. He was Edd's soul mate. His heart fluttered when he was around. Edd shook his head as he felt his cheeks growing hot.
Focusing on the lyrics, he was lost again. Lost in his feelings.
Edd's wrist was aching, but he didn't care. This song had to be perfect.
As he wrote, he was struggling. Struggling to find words. Usually, he poured his heart out into these songs, but today, was different for some reason. He couldn't rhyme, and he couldn't put the lyrics to rhythm.
He tried and tried.
Eventually, he gave up. He threw his notebook across the room and lay on his back, staring at his ceiling, at the glow in the dark stars he had for some reason. He let out a deep sigh. This was harder than he'd thought.
From the way his parents had been when he was a kid, he'd assumed love would be easy. Then again, as a kid, he hadn't realized he was gay. He'd thought he would get a girl and be hers. Forever.
But, his true preference had surfaced, showering him in confusion and doubt. He loved Tord, yes, but... sometimes it got to his head. The insecurities about his relationship, the fears of judgement...
It scared him.
Edd shook his head and sat up, his hand to his head. He looked over at his acoustic guitar, and picked it up. He sat with one knee close to his chest and the other crossed. He propped the guitar against his knee and strummed.
The sound was harmonic, but a bit empty. He was used to the sharpness of his electric guitar. But, the acoustic guitar was... more soul filled. He strummed, humming no melody in particular. That's when he began to sing.
"So I won't hesitate no more, no more. It cannot wait I'm sure. There's no need to complicate, our time is short. This is our fate, I'm yours..."
Edd hummed. He felt... at peace, for some weird reason.
The door to his room creaked open. Edd didn't look up. Someone sat on his bed. They started to hum as well. Edd knew it was Tord, and was pretending not to notice his boyfriend's presence. His lips curled up at the edges.
Tord shifted. He looked at Edd. Did he even know that he was there? Tord coughed. Edd still didn't look up. Maybe he was focused on the song he was playing. There had to be an explanation.
Tord sat up swiftly.
He scooted over to Edd.
Then, he planted a kiss on his cheek.
Edd's face went red. He stopped playing immediately and looked into Tord's grey eyes. Tord just looked back with a sly grin on his face. Edd touched his cheek, realizing how warm his face was. Tord just chuckled.
Edd was speechless. Then, he let himself relax, nodding towards Tord. Tord wrapped his arms around his boyfriend, pulling him in for a hug. Edd just smiled as his boyfriend showered him in affection.
He loved his boyfriend. He wouldn't have cared if he was straight, bi or even pan. It was nice to be with someone who cared deeply about him.
He smiled, closing his eyes, just happy he had someone to love.
