Geoff coughed nervously as he walked up the steps of Burnie's base. It had been years since the moustached man had seen him, often sending members of his own crew to handle the constantly altering terms of agreement. Yet now he had no choice.
He knocked twice on the thick, metal door and stepped back, prepared to wait. Much to his surprise, a slot slid open immediately, revealing a pair of angry eyes glaring down at him.
"Who are you?" The voice was feminine, a woman. Geoff chuckled under his breath. Looks like they really had began to branch out.
"You really don't know me, sweetheart?" He smiled falsely at her and saw the doubt flicker across her face before she hardened her expression.
"State your purpose?"
Geoff scoffed. "What is this, the army? I'm here to see Burnie."
The eyes moved away from the door upon his answer and he heard muffled conversation on the other side. Geoff rolled his eyes at the theatrics of this. Only The Roosters would be so egotistical to have their own guard at the door.
As he began to lose his stiff posture to adopt a more relaxed one, the door swung open revealing a short woman with blonde hair and a taller man with dark brown hair. Geoff recognised the latter and greeted him with a forced smile.
"Hey, if isn't Chris Demarais! How's it going little guy?" Chris narrowed his eyes at his former gang member before looking away. There were more important things to deal with. "Well, I take it you know why I'm here so why not just let me in. I'll even let you pat my dick in case it's got a knife."
Chris blushed but said nothing to Geoff. "Kara, take him to Burnie. They've been waiting for him anyway." Kara nodded and began swiftly walking through a hall, indicating for Geoff to follow.
He flashed Chris another grin before chasing after her, knowing where he was going anyway. "Is Burnie still hiding himself in a small back room?" He asked, making small talk. They turned into an even narrower hallway and Geoff had his answer. "What a loser," he muttered.
Kara stopped outside a black door and pressed some numbers quickly into the pinpad, not letting Geoff leave her sight. She never knew him, but she had heard of his back-stabbing ways. The door swung open to reveal a man with brown curly hair and glasses sitting at a desk with a stack of papers. Burnie.
"Hey Burnie! How's it hanging?" Geoff sauntered into the room without any fear. He wasn't here to attack anyone, just to talk.
Burnie rolled his eyes at his former friend and co-founder, back in simpler times they ran this shithole together. "Sit down, Geoff. Do you want a drink?"
Geoff lounged across the couch, trying to show Burnie that he wasn't to be threatened by him. "Nah, I've quit, turning over a new leaf."
Burnie shrugged and poured himself a whiskey. "Suit yourself, but I know we aren't here to catch up as friends and braid our hair." His expression hardened, "start talking Ramsey."
Geoff also lost his smile. "Why are you terminating the alliance?"
"I felt The Roosters should travel in a new direction. Alone." Burnie stared intently at Geoff, waiting for his reaction. Geoff merely scratched at his beard and sat up straighter.
"We had a good thing going Burnie, I don't know why you would seek out a new enemy like this."
Burnie raised an eyebrow. "It doesn't have to be that way, we can still honour the borders-"
Geoff cut him off. "Nope, not how it works buddy. You get rid of us, we'll get rid of you," he stood, not surprised at how this meeting turned out.
"Is that a threat?" As Burnie spoke, a large, blonde man with muscles stepped into the room with his arms crossed and a gun in his hand.
Raising his hands, Geoff's neutral expression turned smug. "It isn't a threat if you comply. We run this city, Burnie, The Fake AH Crew has every business wrapped around our finger. You want to cancel us then we are more than content to cut you off from any resource you may need. I'll be back in a week to let you have some time to think over this little 'impulse'you have. Be smart."
And with that, he barged past the blonde and and exited the building, pointing some finger guns at Chris on his way.
When he stepped into his Mercedes, he called Jack on mobile.
"Did they break?" Was Jack's response when he saw it was Geoff calling.
"Nah, went as we expected it would. Choose between Michael and Ryan on who gets to fuck with them and don't mention shit to Gavin. He still has ties with those fuckers." Geoff growled, entering the busy highway on his return home.
There was silence on the other end before Jack finally responded. "Alright, I'll let them fight it out and Gavin won't hear it from me. Just hurry up and get back before they kill each other."
Geoff chuckled and said a quick goodbye before hanging up. He was sure Burnie knew that he wouldn't return in a week and if they were smart, would have already began to bail on this hideout.
No one fucks with Geoff's crew.
