Awsten sighed as he looked in the bathroom mirror. His bruise was an odd purple-yellow colour now, a sign it was healing well. He brushed his fingers over the bumps on his wrists, his eyes closing. He hated those bumps. Every day they mocked him, taunting him and tempting him back into old habits. So far he had resisted. He was starting to slip now. It had been a week since he saw his father, and in that week he had lost his appetite. Completely. It was gone. The only time he would eat was when Geoff made him. Geoff was only worried and he only cared, he wanted Awsten to be safe and healthy and happy. Awsten loved him for that.
He stepped back from the mirror, turning to leave the room. Geoff was at work, and he would be home soon. He had temporarily moved in with Geoff, just until he felt stable enough to go back to his own place. He didn't want to. He wanted to stay with Geoff forever.
He pulled the sleeves of his soft, white woollen sweater over his cold hands and went to curl up on the couch. He let an episode of Cake Boss run, only half watching it. By the time Buddy and his family had delivered the impressive Dr Seuss themed cake, Geoff was letting himself in. Awsten was now engrossed in the show, his legs inside his sweater as it was too big, his eyes fixed on the screen.
"I'm home, love." Came Geoff's sweet voice. Awsten smiled and turned to him.
"I missed you." He murmured as Geoff cupped his chin and kissed his lips quickly.
"I missed you too." Geoff got changed and curled up with Awsten on the couch, letting the younger play with his hair. Awsten put little braids into Geoff's unmanageably fluffy hair, being extra gentle and soft. He loved playing with Geoff's hair, he always had. Even in high school, Awsten would often play with Geoff's hair in class or at breaks or during study periods. Geoff thought it was adorable and he quite enjoyed it himself too.
Geoff gently rubbed Awsten's bony shoulder and kissed his cheek. "are you hungry?" He asked quietly. He already knew Awsten would say no.
"not really." The younger replied, knowing he should eat anyway.
Geoff nodded and kissed him again. "tell me if you are."
Awsten had never starved himself on purpose. He only ate when he was hungry. Even if he was only eating enough to keep a mouse alive for a week, he would only eat if his body demanded it. This was one of those weeks. Every day, Geoff would make him something to eat, and Awsten would pick. He would pick at whatever it was, hardly eating any of it. Geoff wasn't offended, he knew Awsten liked his cooking, but he was worried. Geoff had seen Awsten like this once before, and it scared him. He knew that it would pass but he worried how long it'd take. He hoped it would be soon.
Awsten nodded and curled closer, sighing. He had been a little bit better today. He wasn't feeling anxious or sad. He had even called a therapist to see about getting some sort of therapy for his anxiety problems.
"Geoff?" He asked softly, kissing the taller's cheek. He hummed in reply, looking down at him with a soft smile.
"I got an appointment for therapy." He said quietly.
"really? I'm so proud of you, love." Geoff grinned, kissing Awsten's lips gently.
Awsten smiled against the kiss, pulling back slightly. "it's tomorrow. At five pm."
"okay, sweetheart. I'll drive you, if you want." Geoff replied. Awsten nodded.
