My name is Sam Bradford, I have been working here at MFTL for almost a year now and I managed to somehow be lucky enough to gain the approval of our leader, Laur. Today I stand with the grand title of 'depute' and for the few who don't know what that is, it means that I will be the leader once our current one, er, passes on.
This probably will not take long as most people who join our team die after six or seven years, unless you're in our medical department, then you tend to live around ten years. Today was a typical day, which meant it was boring, that's good because I don't want our headquarters to be attacked every hour on the hour. I was eating lunch as it was the typical action for me to do in the early afternoon when Laur approached me out of seemingly nowhere.
"Hey, uh, Sam, come with me." he said in a polite yet slightly demanding tone "sure." I replied.
It wasn't out of the ordinary for him to approach me at random times to have me bring important documents to certain members or really anything that had to do with my job or what he thought was best for me, and well, he knew best. "Sam, I've been meaning to talk to you he started "yes, sir?" I waited for what he was going to reveal "It's about me, you know I won't be living for much longer and I wanted to make sure that you are prepared for my death and that you are able to take care of our team." he continued "I understand that, sir." I replied already knowing what he was going to say next "I am gonna have to start training you everyday to make sure that you'll be doing fine on your own..."
That's when I stopped paying attention, yes, I know I shouldn't be doing that during an important conversation but saw something, or someone. It was this girl, no, she wasn't peeking my sexual interests (although she was quite attractive) I just haven't seen her before. So as my mind wondered, so did my legs. I quickly found myself a walking in her direction while trying to get her attention.
"Hey! Hey!" I called out and she turned to face me with a look of slight shock "yes?" She asked "I haven't seen you here before, are you new?" I asked "yeah! I'm the new recruit. My name is Rosa." She extended her right hand to my side of our stance and I quickly shook it trying not to be rude "that's great! I'm Sam-"
All of the sudden I was cut off by a more than familiar voice "Sam! We need to train!" He grabbed me by the wrist and scolded me. What started as a slight tug had soon turned into him dragging me off to who knows where, I turned my head to get one last look at Rosa "it was nice meeting you! I'll see you around!" I shouted "you too, sam!" She called back.
