everything changes after the first time
the first time you're in love
the next time you're more cautious
remembering the pain it caused your heart
but the thing is
love means falling for a soul even though they can hurt you
you take the fall, wincing as you go
relief floods your face when they catch you
warmth flood your veins when they take care of you
love floods your heart when they take you for everything you are
they flood your soul when they stay
don't drown in it.
