The season was starting to change. The weather was starting to get colder. The morning breeze was starting to bite my skin. But there was something that did not change, and I think it never will.
The feeling.
The feeling, my feeling whenever I sat on the same bench over and over again, every single four in the morning, day by day, the same sound that echoed the entire park.
The feeling, my feeling whenever I sat on the same bench over and over again, waiting for a friend, every single four in the morning.
"Good morning," he said as he took a sit next to me on the bench. I moved my gaze from the trees that were starting to lose their leaves, and looked at him.
"The season is changing, huh?" he said, I wasn't sure if he was talking to himself or if he was talking to me. But I was the only one there, I'd thought I needed to say something.
"Yeah, it is. Wait, Jimin. How was your job?" I asked.
I had been waiting to ask him that question for so long, ever since he started his first day of work a month ago. But I tend to forget a lot. I didn't know why.
"It's fine," he answered, without taking his eyes off of the trees.
"Did you make any friends there?"
"I did," he answered short.
Second by second, I was waiting for him to continue the conversation by introducing his new friends to me but, he remained seated with his mouth shut. No sense of continuing the conversation at all.
I was about to ask who his new friends were, but he cut me off as soon as I was about to say a word, as if he was avoiding to continue talking about that topic.
"I had so much fun yesterday. Thanks a lot, Taehyung. Another memory to be added in my mind," he chuckled softly.
Yesterday.
I shifted my gaze from his face to my side, as I pulled out the plastic that had a bottle of pain reliever pills Jimin dropped yesterday.
"You dropped this yesterday," I handed it to him. He looked over his shoulder to see the object, and his eyes widen twice in shock when he realised what was in my hand.
His hand snaked out like a thunder when he snatched the plastic away from my hand and put it aside.
"Why do you have that? Why didn't you tell me that you're sick?" I shot him multiple of questions, looking straight into his eyes which were begin to moved around with no direction.
"It's for my migraine. I have been working until late night lately," he answered, his voice was deep as if he was nervous. He did not even want to look at me in the eyes.
"Yet you are here every 4am,"
"I'm coming because of you," he said.
"You should stay at home and take a rest instead,"
"So, you're saying I'm lying?" he shot me a glare.
My eyebrows were plunged to a frown, as I was confused since I didn't even mention the word liar or whatsoever.
"I'm not, I'm just worried of you,"
"No, you think I'm lying, don't you? You have trust issues towards me now?" he said calmly, but there was an obvious tone of coldness in his voice.
"It's not like that. I'm worried about you and your health. You should tell me if you're not feeling we—,"
"I am fine!" he yelled as he looked into my eyes.
"Don't keep secrets from me, Jimin-ah!" I raised my tone.
"Can't you understand that I'm perfectly fine? How many times do I have to te—,"
"What kind of fine and healthy is a person if he, himself owns a bottle of fucking pain reliever pills!" I shouted, and he fell into a silence.
"Why do you care so much?!" he glared at me with fierce eyes.
"Because I'm your best friend!"
"A best friend should be concern, not busybody," he said through his gritted teeth before getting up from his seat, and walked away.
Liar.
