The floor vibrated under my feet as I stepped onto the bus, nearly throwing me against the random poles they have on buses. My short brown hair touched my shoulders and my thin hands held my school bag, which I dumped in the bag thing at the bottom of the bus. This was the ok-ish part of the day; the school bus. Never mind, the school bus is rubbish but at least there's no maths and I can talk to my friends for a solid hour.
I went upstairs and spotted Simi with Georgia in our usual seats in the back of the bus. They waved me over, yelling my name over the rumble of the engine and I went to them. I moved deftly to the back of the bus, used to the jerkiness after 4 years of going on it. The year 7s stared at me as me (the yr 11) went past. They tried to do it inconspicuously but failed.
"Hi Jade," chorused Simi and Georgia when I sat down in the seat next to them. They laughed simultaneously afterwards.Simi had medium-length brown hair, dark skin and full lips. She rummaged in her bag and pulled out her phone. She is obsessed with this new app where you fling balls around to try and hit blocks. I rolled my eyes. I guess today is going to be a day where we are antisocial.
Georgia had long blonde hair that touched the lower part of her back. She had pale skin and large brown eyes, an unusual combination of features but it suited her well. Georgia rolled her eyes at Simi and plugged her headphones into her phone. She offered me a ear bud and we bobbed out heads to Imagine Dragons.
The bus slowly went from completely empty to getting fuller as more as more people got on. The music played and I got out my phone to scroll through my social media. A normal day, but little did I know that it wasn't...
Suddenly a loud blast echoed from the sky. Simi was the closest to the window and she peered out curiously. She dropped her phone on the floor and clapped her hands to her mouth, eyes wide with shock.
Me and Georgia scrambled from our seats, the earphones clicking out from the phone and the phone falling to the ground. . Imagine Dragons filled the bus but no one moved to turn it off. Everyone was plastered to the left windows, looking outside in horror. Even the bus had stopped and all the cars around it. Everyone had put life on hold and was staring out of the window at the horror.
The sun was cracking into pieces, slowly drifting away from its position in the sky. It was no longer bright and I could see the orange rock clearly, even though it was soo far away. This shouldn't be happening! Isn't the sun only supposed to be half way through its life?? Fragments of the dim sun floated away fast. It was like the sun had just disintegrated into dust. But I forgot that what looked like dust would be bigger than a house on Earth. And it was plummeting towards us.
It came unnaturally fast and within a couple of minutes of staring at the window, I saw hot rock plummeting towards us. Even though the light was lost, it was still about 100000000000000 degrees and it was on fire. One was aiming right towards the bus. I rushed down the stairs towards the driver nearly falling down the stairs in my haste.
"Drive! DRIVE!!!" I yelled, the whole of the bottom floor clicking back into focus at the sound of my voice. The driver snapped back into focus and pushed down on the pedal. The bus lurched forwards, throwing me against the stairs. My back ached as I scrambled back onto the top floor, lurching against the sides. Everyone was shocked into stillness, then falling over themselves as they tried to get back to the seats with the bus moving fast. Bags slide all around my feet and it was a hard job not to fall over them all.
"Jade!" yelled Simi over all the noise as people realised what was going on, "Come here."I clutched the railing as I stumbled towards them. The bus driver was swerving and twisting, to avoid the flaming balls of rock, making everyone jerk everywhere. A few people were crying and most were holding onto their seats for dear life.
"Sit down and put your seatbelts on!" I yelled finally reaching the back, sitting down and buckling up. There were seatbelts but no one used them. I was too grateful to the person who had put the seatbelts on the bus. But I'm pretty sure they didn't think they would be used because the people on the bus were trying not to fly off because the bus driver was trying to avoid bits of the sun. Definitely not.
Floating balls of Lava smashed into the road, flinging cars into the air. A red ford focus was launched off the ground and disappeared behind a house. I looked out the back window and saw a block of flats fall to the ground in the distance. Everywhere I looked there were balls of fire plummeting from the sky. Houses exploded as the rock pummeled into them. People were running and screaming trying to avoid the debris that rained down everywhere. Everything was catching fire and smoke rose into the atmosphere.
The fire inhaled cars and full houses, it all stood no chance against the hungry flames. There was smoke coming from in front of us. I thought it was cars on fire but it was the two front tires. They screeched and veered to the sit. I realised what was going to happen a second before it did.
"HOLD ON!!" screamed Georgia, her long hair like a Halo around her face as the bus flipped over.
