Five
I walked over the driver's side door. I giggled at Darcy. She was excited as a little girl attending her seventh birthday party. I wish I was overexaggerating but, that's really how excited she gets about Roger's. I crouched down into the drivers seat and shut the door behind me.
"Hey look! Carjack Carl is at it again." Darcy pointed at the short man that was trying to unlock a car with a bobby pin and a small metal rod. We don't really know if his name is Carl or not, but it worked for us.
"Well he's only got a bobby pin and a skinny metal stick, so he's got less of a chance than he's ever had." I laughed.
"I can't believe he's still trying," Darcy said, "This has got to be at least car number fourteen."
We giggled as he made funny faces as he twisted and turned the bobby pin in the lock of the door. We watched as his mouth opened wide and his eyes became beady.
"Ha, another false alarm, it's so funny to see him think he's broken in but he re-" Darcy paused her sentence. He opened the car door.
"WOOHOO!" Darcy screamed as if he could hear her, "He actually opened it for once."
"Its like a bloody miracle," I said.
I stepped on the brake and started up the engine. The old engine spit as I took off the parking brake. I never put that stupid thing on except for when I am at school. I'd rather it not roll into other cars.
Carjack Carl continued to rummage through the car door and underneath the drivers seat. I watched men in blue uniform run toward the car door. How did they find him? There is like no cameras in this parking lot... That's why I park here! They grabbed him from behind, one officer had the right arm while the other had his left. Darcy and I viewed through the windshield as his face was slammed into the hood of the old beat up car. Blood poured out from his nose and eye socket.
I slowly began to back up my car. I really didn't need to see that today. That could have been me, at the end of my car, getting my head slammed in for speeding. I backed all the way out of the parking spot and turned away from the carnage.
"Well... I didn't need to see that," I said exhaling loudly.
"Yeah that was disgusting," Darcy paused, "And poor Carjack Carl. We should hold a funeral."
I laughed, "Darcy we aren't holding a funeral for someone we don't know, let alone someone who isn't dead yet."
"Yet," Darcy responded pointing her finger at me.
"So, I did something bad today," I blurted.
"Wait what?" Darcy shot back.
"Well I kinda did something bad today, but technically not because I didn't get caught."
"Please explain further."
"Well Keagan forgot to refill the gas being the asshole he is, so I got super mad and sped to the gas station."
"You always speed to the gas station what's new?"
"There was a cop on the corner this time though."
"Wait what? How are you alive?" Darcy said her eyes large.
"Well he was asleep. But than he pulled me over later cause he said I looked nervous. Than I lied to him and told him I had a big university exam..."
"You lied to a cop too?! How the hell are you still alive???" Darcy freaked out.
"I did, I did. But I am still alive, so no harm done and it never happened right?"
"Well did you think about the surveillance at the gas station?"
"Oh fuck..." I muttered underneath my breath.
"Yeah, you might be lucky though. The security camera maybe didn't have a wide enough angle."
"Well I better pray when I get home, even though I hate it."
"Yeah, you better..."
I pulled into the closest parking spot to the entrance.
