When we danced,
It was almost like I didn't hate myself anymore
You took my hands and
One step
Two step
Three step
My foot bumped yours and we tumbled,
And falling never felt so good.
One step
Two step
Three step
My head only met your chest and my hands clutched your shirt
There was nothing softer
There was nothing closer
There was nothing but us
One step
Two step
Three step
There was nothing
You danced with her,
Her hands in yours,
And her foot hit yours and you tumbled.
Falling never looked so sweet
And my stomach never churned so hard
And your eyes never looked so scared
One step
Two step
Three step
"It was just a step or two" you said
My teeth never chattered so hard
One step
Two step
Three step
When my wrists bled,
And my hands were dirty from digging my own grave,
You danced with me
One step
Two step
Three step
We don't dance anymore
And you dance with her
And it's more than a step or two
So I learn
To dance
On my own
