When she is silent,
do not ask her if she's okay.
Instead,
turn her head towards yours.
Gather her fragile hands in yours.
Kiss her eyelids shut.
Whisper gently into her ear,
"We're okay, you're okay, I'm here."
And next,
and maybe most importantly,
listen to her silence.
Because it screams.
