Violet walked home from work, all suited up and exhausted from the long day. Her once straightened brown hair now frizzed from the heat.
She comes home to her small, humble apartment, smacking her purse and keys onto the kitchen island that just so happened to be at the entrance. She kicks off her shoes and strips off her jacket to her pantsuit, revealing a white undershirt. Flicking on the TV with the remote left on the couch, the news instantly flashes before her eyes with "Breaking News".
"As of eleven o'clock this morning, Mystic Shadow, accompanied by her partner, Lightning King, have officially defeated Professor Mayhem." A woman news reporter recalls the Breaking News without a single source of bias-ness in her tone. "Fellow reporter Patrick Reynolds will give us the scoop from the scene of the incident."
Violet leans forward, turning the volume up. A blonde man appears on screen in front of a dismantled sculpture of Mystic Shadow and Lightning King, along with most of the grass torn up from the epic battle.
"In a stunning conclusion to their rivalry, Mystic Shadow was able to catch Professor Mayhem off guard, as he was taunting her with the potential death of a nearby family, by blinding him with her shadow powers and then Lightning King striking him in the back with one of his thunder bolts."
The screen displays a phone recording of a young family of four, holding each other close and panicked to death, just before Professor Mayhem was killed. Mystic Shadow, a woman in a purple mask and dark jump suit, calls out to her partner. "Do it, King!"
A dark mist covers the screen, suddenly lightened by one of Lightning King's bolts. A scream of agony accompanies, along with one final threat.
"This isn't the end, Shadow!"
"You better hope it is!" The heroine calls back. "Or next time things will be even uglier."
The screen flashes back to the blonde reporter, who cannot seem to hide his enthusiasm. "Finally, we are rid of this villain's tyranny and it's all thanks to Mystic Shadow and the Lightning King."
The blonde reporter continues to make remarks about the incident while Violet becomes lost in thought.
"That was her family," Violet breathes. "And in order to protect it, she decided it was best to destroy mine."
Violet closes her eyes and her fists, a great trembling from the earth ensuing afterwards. "She thinks it's okay to hurt my family- my only family- in order to protect her own?" Violet begins to yell. She stands up from the couch, the earth quake only intensifying.
The TV catches her attention once more, this time of the female reporter from before. "We definitely owe a debt of gratitude and honor towards our heroes, Mystic Shadow and Lightning King."
"That little rat is going to wish she was never born!"

The earth quakes ensue around the city of Coldspring, all generating from one area.
Or well, from one person.
Violet makes her presence known in the park, electricity sparking at her fingertips.
As she expected, Mystic Shadow and Lightning King came to the rescue.
