my alarm clock blared through my conscious, sucking me out of my dream and back into reality. groaning, I rolled over and slammed my hand on the off button.
"great, first day of school." I thought to myself.
I threw my down comforter off my body and stood up. I stretched for a brief moment before heading to the bathroom.
turning the shower handle slightly to the hot side, I started to strip my body of my clothes. once the water felt a good temperature, I hopped inside.
I let the warm water run down my back and relax my muscles. the first day of school was always a stressful time for me, particularly because I never had many friends growing up. thank god it was senior year so I only had one more year until I was out of school.
I massaged some shampoo into my scalp and quickly washed my face before applying some conditioner and washing my body. once I was done I stepped onto my bathroom mat and
towel dried myself off.I headed back to my room and opened my closet doors, searching for something to wear.
basing my decision off this bi-polar Indiana weather lately, I decided on black shorts with a white crop top that said "California Love" with the California bear on the front. my life long goal was to move to California and live on the beach.
after getting dressed, I headed to the bathroom and blow dried my hair. I applied some heat protectant before creating beachy waves with my crimper.
once I finished my hair, I applied a very thin line of eyeliner and then mascara. i quickly brushed my teeth then put on my black and white converse before grabbing my black over-the-shoulder school bag, keys, and a banana.
I said goodbye to my mom before heading out to my car in the driveway. turning the key in the ignition I backed out of my driveway, praying this day
would go okay.***
I walked up the familiar pathway to the school entrance.
"only one more year and then you're outta here to the sandy beaches of california." I comforted myself before taking a deep breath.
as I continued walking up the path I looked around at the different groups of people. huddled under a tree were the nerds, studying and reading books. leaning against the stone railing on the stairs were the badasses. they wore leather jackets and combat boots and smoked cigarettes all day. sitting on a bench was the student council crew, coming up with the next big ideas for school and how to make it interesting. sat in a big circle on the grass were all the girls, discussing the new trends and gossiping about other girls.
last but not least were the jocks. they were doing the usual, horsing around and setting things on fire. there were 10 of them, and all of them were on the football team. they wore their red and white letterman jackets everyday. there was Cameron Dallas, Carter Reynolds, Matthew Espinosa, Nash Grier, Hayes Grier, Aaron Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Jack Gilinsky, Jack Johnson, and the one and only Taylor Caniff. all of the boys were seniors like me, except Hayes who was a sophomore.
I've known Taylor since the 5th grade, and he's been a dick since then. we always went to the same schools and had the same classes growing up, so it was hard for me to get away from him. he was always rude to me for absolutely no reason. one minute he'd flirt with me then the next he'd treat me like a nobody.
he's arrogant, cocky, rude, a player, and I hate him.
I passed by the jocks as they whistled and hollered at me.
I rolled my eyes, I was used to it to be completely honest.
I never really understood what guys saw in me. not to be conceded, but I've always gotten hit on everywhere I go for all my life.
my hair was long and brown, it stopped right above my waist. I had blue/green eyes and I had naturally olive skin because I had a lot of Italian heritage.
I always saw myself as overweight. of course all my friends tried to reassure me that I wasn't but I never believed them.I continued to walk up the concrete stairs as one nearby guy opened the door for me.
"thank you," I smiled to him.
once I got my schedule from the office I went to my new locker to make myself comfortable.
after putting up some stickers, posters, a magnetic mirror, and putting my books in the locker, the bell rang for first period.
just as I was about to close my locker door I heard a familiar deep voice boom through my ears.
"Hey Ava, miss me?"
