Daniel
We all woke up and decided to head to the beach, but all the while, I was thinking.
Why were we picked to 'watch' Ann? More like babysit, but still. Actually, I know why Raphael and Xanther were picked, they're fifth level warriors, like me, but they always goof off, always joke around.
I was protecting the walls, the gates, and our people. Not once did I complain.
I was thinking about it all the way down to the beach. It was infuriating, to not know.
We set our things down on the sand. We each had our own towels so I decided to lay down and get a quick tan.
Apparently Raph and Xan thought the same. After a few hours of just laying there and thinking, Raphael got up.
He jogged to the ocean and stepped in knee deep. Then, Xanther just had to open his mouth.
"You know dude, it really sucks to be you. I mean think about it. Best fifth level warrior committed to babysitting duty. I mean, I'm level five and Raphael's level four, but really, it's funny as hell," he joked.
Now, usually I'd laugh along and let it go, but not today. He kept doing this and I wasn't going to put up with it anymore. He knows how much my job means to me. I jumped up, as did he.
We started expertly swinging at each other and dodging, seeing as we were trained on fighting when we became warriors.
He lost focus and I took the opportunity to land a punch straight on his jaw. It didn't break, lucky for him.
We just stared at each other for a bit until he spoke up.
"You need to go, now. Something is wrong with you, dude. You need help. You would never fight me or Raphael like that," he told me in a concerned tone.
"Shut the hell up Xanther," I replied coldly. I didn't even know why I was being so awful to him.
I didn't have any answers, but I knew who did.
I recalled the story to Evelyn, my sister. She was a red head with bright green eyes, a plant tamer. We were always very close which is why we were able to keep a relationship once I was tasked with protecting Ann. She was older than me, she's twenty-two actually. I love her to death and I would always protect her.
"Oh I know what this is," she said with a sly smile," Are you on your period?"
She burst into laughter while I just growled in response.
"No I don't have one. Now answer the question," I demanded.
I wanted to know what was going on.
"Alright alright. I think it has something to do with you being on the ground. Your not used to it. When's the last time you've used your gift?" she asked me in a sisterly tone.
I shrugged and she just sighed in response.
"I think a bit of off time would help. How about this, I'll go down to the ground and try to become her friend. Being her friend will keep her occupied and protected while all of you get some vacation time, ok," she smiled.
She was a great sister, the best.
"That's perfect. I'll tell Raph and Xan," I said.
"No need. We're right here," I heard Raphael say as they both walked in.
"Oh, hey guys," I said nervously. I didn't know if they were mad or concerned. They had a blank expression on.
"You ok man. After you left we packed up and flew up here. What's going on?" he asked.
