Author's Note
Hey guys! Guess what? I'm not dead! XD
Sorry for the long wait--life has been kinda crazy for me lately. I just moved, and there was a lot of social drama (which involved a boy, of course), and my creativity kinda just... flew out the window. And then jumped off a cliff.
But I'm back now! Hopefully for a while. And while it's probably crap, because I'm rusty and have absolutely no motivation... I managed to barf out this chapter. So... yeah! I'm sorry if it's bad. I have yet to get back into the swing of things.
Thanks for all your understanding, guys. :-)
(Also, can whoever's RPing in the comments try and refrain from doing that? I think you can do that in messages, and it'll keep my comment section more... idk. Clean? Organized? I don't even know why it bothers me, honestly. Just not a fan. Thx~)
~Sans' Perspective~
...Something's wrong.
I bounce my leg irritably from my place on the couch, scowling at a certain human of mine. She's standing over in the corner, her arms crossed, and her brow lower than I've seen it in a long time. Though I can't really put my finger on what it is, something is obviously bothering her. But every time I try to bring it up...
"Hey, (Y/N)," I sigh, trying again despite my previous failures. "What's on your mind?"
She jumps, my voice having startled her out of whatever thoughts are running through her head.
"O-oh, uh... Nothing, Sans."
I sigh heavily, letting a slow hand run down my face.
"Yeah, yeah. So you've said," I mutter, tapping my arm. "What does 'nothing' look like? You must've burned a hole into it by now."
"Ha! Ha ha! That's funny," she says, voice somehow higher than it normally is. "Very funny. Seeing things that aren't there—that's never happened before! How hilarious!"
I cringe on her behalf, confusion becoming even more prominent in my churning mind.
"Seriously. What's going on? You're obviously up in arms about something—"
"I-it's nothing, I swear!"
"(Y/N), listen. You're a bad liar."
The expression on her face right now reminds me of Paps' that one time I caught him making something other than spaghetti. In other words, shocked and guilty. Her grip on herself tightens, and she takes a deep breath. Then her arms uncross, and she slowly walks over to me, giving a defeated 'huff' as she lands on the couch next to me.
"Alright, alright... I'm just thinking about things."
"That's very specific," I note, raising a bone brow.
"Yep."
"(Y/N)..."
"Alright! Alright, you win. I was thinking... I was thinking about the Barrier."
"What?" I ask, thinking I misheard her. "The Barrier?"
"Yeah..."
That's the last thing I expected. The Barrier is a topic that most of our friends tend to avoid like Undyne's wrath nowadays—nobody wants our two humans feeling guilty about it. I thought she would have forgotten about it by now...
