Chapter One:
mariyah's pov: I opened my eyes due to my sister nudging my arm repeatedly. "what?!" I groaned at her pushed her futher away from me as I closed my eyes again. "get your ass up" she said popping one earphone in her left ear. I opened my eyes annoyed that she had woken me up. within seconds I realized we were finally in california. I had moved away from california in my past childhood because my father had been offered work in chicago. it wasnt long long after that my mother divorced him because his affairs with his coworkers. we had gotten a small apartment and settled there for the rest of our time in chicago. now its been seven years and I am 16 now. mom got sick of it there and decided she wanted to move my sister and I back to california to be back with familiar surroundings as she says. I lived in chicago for seven years, in my opinion thats pretty damn familiar. I didnt want to move, I had a life. I had friends, but of course my word doesnt count.. ever. and of course jordan wanted to move back to california. she is 14, california is paradise for girls her age. she could make friends easily unlike me. she was also my mothers favorite of us two, so if she wanted to go back we would. I slipped my converse on and stepped out of the car streching my arms from the 4 day car ride. I went around to the drivers side of the car and popped the trunk. as I walked to the back of the car I could see jordan walking towards the beach already. mom's brother, uncle travis, had given my mom his beach house for us to stay in until mom could find us a more permanent place. I grabbed my bags from the trunk and walked towards the house. I walked into the house and looked around. it was very warm and homey but nothing I was used to. our apartment in chicago was simple. white walls, white carpet, white counters, white everything. the beach house was very open and creative. there were nice wooden floors, but a little scratched up from uncle travis' previous stays. the living area was a red brown color, lightened by windows on all walls. there was christmas lights around the room and an old brown couch. an old box tv sat across from the couch on a rugged table. I walked to the back of the house and looked in one of the rooms. it was clear jordan had already claimed it, bags spread across the bed. I walked down the hall and went into the next room. it was a baby blue color with a wave beautifully panted on the wall facing to ocean shore. above the wave there was a large window across the wall. I set my bags down on my new bed and went over to the dusty window. I looked out and saw a deck right below. at least I can sneak out I thought to myself. I opened the window and turned to the bed. I sat down and looked around the room unsatisfied. "I guess this is it" I whispered to myself.
