Evan's POV

Does she know how crazy it makes me to see her dressed like that?!?!
I push the thought to the back of my mind. Business first.

After what happened in Sophia's room we went down stairs to watch a movie called, "Moana," I heard of it but I never watched it. I internally groaned, as Soph was jumping in excitement down the stairs.

Keith walked back to living room with a big bowl of pop corn. And when I say big bowl I mean it was bigger than a pregnant lady, okay maybe I'm over exaggerating but who eats that much pop corn?!?!

Keith sat in between me and Sophia. Sophia got up and went into the kitchen, and came back with all sorts of candy.

Sophia walks up to me and waves eleven different kinds of candy in my face. There was Crisp, Skittles, M&Ms, Mike & Ike, Sour Gummy Worms, Milkyway, Peeps (if you could call that candy), Hershey's Cookies and cream, Kit Kat, Gummy Bears, and lastly Reece's.

I grabbed the gummy bears, and skittles, "Thanks Soph," She nods and takes the rest and hogged it to herself.

A few minutes into the movie Sophia bursts into song singing with Moana.

"I've been staring at the edge of the water
As long as I can remember, never really knowing why.
I wish I could be the perfect daughter, but I come back to the water no matter how hard I try.
Every turn I take, every trail I track, every path I make
every road leads back
to place I know where I can not go where I looong to be."

I'll admit she had a beautiful voice when she's not purposely going off key, but I'm not gonna say that to her face. As we progressed in the movie she continues to sing everytime she heard a song.

Is it just me or does that big crab act like a creep amongst the shadows with jewels on his shell just waiting to eat people. I mean, he's CRAZY!!! I gotta give it to Disney. They never seem to stop amazing me. Little secret, I love Disney. But no one needs to know the chair throwing bad guy is into it.

As the movie neared the end I finished all my candy. I don't regret eating all of it. Keith was most likely bored of it because he's already asleep. I look over to see a teary eyed Sophia. I chuckle and she looks back at me.

"You would cry too if Maui didn't come back with you!" She quietly yelled. I laugh again.

"So princessa, what do you wanna do now?" I ask her.

"Hmm... let's go out to the park!" She exclaims quietly so she doesn't wake up Keith. "Let me change first." She runs upstairs and before I knew it she was back down. I didn't know girls could change that fast.

She wore grey joggers, and a black shirt with black and white Nike's. Her hair was quickly thrown into a pony tail. Wow, even in her cozy clothes she looks great.

We wandered the streets of her neighborhood in silence.

"Why are you interested in me?" She suddenly blurts as we walk towards the swings. That question really catches me off guard. Why was I interested in her? I asked myself. But silently I knew the answer.
I liked her because she made my days bearable, especially with what I have to handle.

Back in first grade that's when my grandmother died. She always babysat me after achool when my parents had work. We would always bake, play board/card games, make forts, and we'd play with her two dogs. She always found ways to entertain me. I smiled at the memory. Sophia and I became friends in first grade. We were close, she was there when I cried because I missed my grandma. She understood me, she didn't pity me, but rather told me to look on the bright side.

Even if she passed away, she's looking over me, and not only is she looking over me, she doesn't have to continue bearing the pain the world threw at her. My grandmother didn't die of any disease or sickness, rather my grandpa murdered her.

From what my parents told me, my grandfather came home drunk in the middle of the night. He went up to the room he shared with grandma, and took out his pocket knife and started stabbing her to death. He's been locked up since. Oh how I miss her.

First grade was the hardest on me along with half of elementary. But this girl I'm here at the park with, this girl that loved to sing, this girl who was herself to everyone, and this special girl that didn't know she made me smile each day, was my light and air. She was the reason I wanted to live and come to school. After my grandma's death, I fell into depression. I still attended school, but there was no reason for me until I met Sophia. Gosh, she turned my world upside down. But the thing is, I have gotta keep my emotions out of this. At all times. She may mean a lot to me, but what her past did to me is something I can't forgive.

"Hey...Evan? A-are you okay?" She silently questions as we stand near a swing set.

"H-huh? O-oh." Freak I'm stuttering. "Yeah I'm alright. Remember first grade?" I asked.

"Yeah... you were really sad everytime I saw you." She looked off as if remembering a memory from first grade. She sat in the swing as I joined her slowly going back and forth.

"Yeah, well I know it's late, but I wanted to thank you. Thank you Sophia Renae Neverturn for always showing me the positive, and for being a great supportive friend." I genuinely smile at her. She starts turning red as she looks as me but smiles back.

"You're welcome, I'm glad I met you Evan Rain Shield. I hope maybe eventually we could be that close again." She says and gives me a sweet smile. Maybe, maybe I could start opening back up to you....just not now I mentally say as I look at her. Maybe not ever.
