"So...what's going on between you and August, hmmm?" Melody asked lifting an eyebrow.
"What? What between me and that jerk?" I demanded.
"Well, yesterday evening you two were romantically looking at the sunset..." Melody said as we walked down the hallway.
"No it's not what you think. It's just a moment of friendship!" I insisted, flustered at what Melody was getting at.
"Oh sure. Don't worry, I'm a good secret keeper." Melody said, a smile tugging at her lips, "You know you look so flustered for such a small talk."
I felt my cheeks heat up. "I would rather anyone else than August. Even Lucas would be much better." I said.
"Oh Lucas?" Melody asked, suddenly getting curious, "I should have known earlier..."
I covered her mouth. "It's not like that! I shouldn't have said anything should I?" I asked, and Melody just continued smiling when I removed my hand.
"Anyways, I promised Francis that I'll keep him company since he's stuck in his room." Melody said, pushing the door to Francis' room open. Francis had woken up the previous night while Melody had taken dessert to him, but he was still unable to get out of bed.
I marched down the stairs to the dining room where everyone was sitting around the table. Some people were still not here, and the worst part was that-
"There's no food!" Ema cried, putting her hands in the air dramatically, "We are all going to die!"
Everyone stared at her like she was some crazy person who just escaped the asylum. I couldn't blame them. Last night Ema was constantly trying to make shadow animals on the wall.
"Apparently Ben just disappeared this morning." Serene explained,"No trace, or note, or anything. Just poof and gone."
"Don't worry folks! Chef Lucas knows how ta cook!" Someone called from the kitchen. I walked over to the kitchen to see Lucas busy frying some eggs in a pan at the same time unwrapping a package of sausages. The kitchen was filled with a pleasant aroma.
"Oh, Aria! Special breakfast for you! Supreme Lucas' home made pancakes, just for you!" Lucas said smiling and turned to hold a plate with a stack of warm pancakes. The aroma was so mouth watering I felt myself drooling.
"That's sweet. I'll just bring it out to the rest." I said, taking the heaping plate and going out of the kitchen.
"Hmph. I'm sure I can cook too." August said, marching over to Lucas' side. "I'll just help make the pancakes."
I watched as August fumbled with the dough and when he opened a bag of flour, he accidentally poured too much in the bowl and caused the countertop to burst into flour. August coughed and tried to wipe the flour of his shirt and face.
"Someone using too much baby powder?" I asked, stifling a laugh as he stumbled around, covered in flour from head to toe.
He cursed under his breath and stomped off to the bathroom. I chuckled lightly and went off to the dining room carrying the pancakes.
Five seconds after I placed the plate of pancakes on the table, it was empty. Everyone wolfed down the food in an instant, leaving me with an empty plate.
I groaned, unhappy that there were no food. I sat down on where Melody had sat yesterday with an exasperated sigh. This place was going to be the death of me.
August came back holding two huge plates of food. My mouth pooled with saliva and if I hadn't kept my mouth closed, I would already be flooding the room. I watched eagerly as he slowly set the plates on the table. Everyone else were also watching with evil glints in their eyes, staring at the food like predators stalking prey. I eyed Ema cautiously as she licked her lips. I wasn't going to let everyone take away the food from me this time.
