"I can't believe you are the one!" I screamed at August.
"Wha- what did I do?" August backed away, raising his arms in defence.
"You. You knew that the tap water was contaminated with this liquid!" I shouted, pointing at the tank behind me," And when I told you to give my mom water, YOU were the one who gave her the tap water, which was filled with this! And you killed her!"
August was shocked at what I said. He was probably faking it.
"N-no! I didn't give your Mom the water!" August replied.
"Then who else could have did it?!" I screamed in fury. Lucas tried to calm me down, but I shoved his hand away.
"It was already there! I didn't even leave the ward after I came in..." August said softly.
"Stop lying! I know you have something to do with this! You know the man my dad talked about! You are working for him!" I shouted, jabbing a finger at him.
"I don't know what you are talking about! I swear!" August tried to reason.
I was about to march up to him and punch him, but Lucas stepped in and stopped me.
"Aria. I don't think you should jump to conclusions so quickly." Lucas said as I struggled from his firm grip."Let me go! He killed my Mom!" I fought back, trying to release myself from his tight grip on my shoulders, but to no avail.
"Aria! Don't accuse someone without proof!" Lucas said, maintaining a grip on me. Great. Now even Lucas wouldn't help me.
I looked at August, his innocent eyes staring fearfully at me. He held up his hands in Defence. I could tell that I looked like some wild animal on the loose now.
I breathed in slowly, closing my eyes and counting to three. I knew that Lucas was right. I couldn't just jump to conclusions even if it seemed like it was right. My Mom had told me not to judge a book by its cover. Thinking of my Mom made my eyes water.
Lucas finally released me when I had calmed down. I remained a glare at August, who seemed absolutely frightened. I didn't know why though. I was a nerd, and he was a jerd. He couldn't possibly me scared of me right?
"Look, Aria. It really wasn't me. I wouldn't have the guts to come out of my house after doing something like that." August reasoned with me.
"Why did you keep an Emo face throughout today then?" I asked.
August rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't really want to talk about that right now..." he said, shifting his feet nervously. Huh. I knew he was hiding something.
I looked back at the control panel beneath the tank. "Why would someone go through all the trouble to put this here just to kill my Mom?" I wondered aloud.
"Either the person really wants your Mom dead because she is really important for some reason, or the he is wants to infect... that's it!" Lucas suddenly widened his eyes like something had hit him on the head.
"That's what? And how did you know the person was a 'he'?" I asked.
"Oh. Erm. I was just guessing, I Guess." Lucas stuttered, but got back to his point," look, if he-i mean that person wanted to go through so much trouble just to get this chemical in this place, which releases the chemicals into the water, that means the person wants to..."
"Infect the whole state!" I finished, widening my eyes in realisation, "And why would he want to infect a cure to an ancient disease in a tank? It's not like the whole country is infected."
August and Lucas gave me confused looks. Yeah, they didn't know about the disease. Or August was just faking it. I told them about the disease (now I knew Called Zombianthis), how my Father wanted to cure my mom and sold this chemical to a man. I knew I shouldn't be telling them, but a constant nagging at the back of my mind told me to tell them.
