Kathleen had a abusive husband, due to this she always found herself at the center of his aggression, one night after returning from a friend's party he got into an argument with her after she suggested that she should drive the car since he was drunk. As always while driving he lost his temper , pulling the car in front of a cemetery and grabbing her handbag away from her and tossing it in the backseat , he pushed her out of the car and drove away.
Standing on the empty road which was covered with the midnight fog she began to become really scared, " How am I suppose to go home now?", she wondered. There was only one way that was to go through the cemetery ,if she goes by the road it may take hours for her to reach to her house and she had gone through the cemetery many times , everyone has gone through that route since it was a shortcut but no one must have dared to enter that place at midnight since the cemetery was huge it takes approximately thirty minutes to walk from one end to another plus a huge wall surrounded the place. Gathering as much courage as possible she pushed the gate open and stepped in. The air was ice cold and shivers ran down her spine as she tried to walk faster, but somehow she seemed to walk slower with each step.
Many tombstones came into view, she read their names as she walked past. She stopped on her trail when she spotted the name "John Stevenson" , tears welled up in her eyes, she missed her father so much , he died eight years ago due to blood cancer. Its been so long since she visited his grave, she wished he was alive , how wrong he was with his decision to get her married to David. Turning away from the tombstone she continued walking, after awhile she heard a child crying as she went to the direction of the wailing she found a small girl about the age of nine years old sitting on a grave rubbing her eyes with both of her hands and crying mercilessly. Kathleen began to wonder why she was here so late at night. "Hi, where are your parents, sweety?", she asked her approaching closer. The girl at once stopped crying and looked up to her , " My mommy came to a funeral this morning and then forgot me here", she said with a croaked voice. "Okay, honey why don't you come with me , we will find your mommy?", Kathleen consoled her and took her hand, the girl stood up and accompanied her. She seemed more relaxed so Kathleen spoke again, " So what is your name?", she stared back and answered, " my name is Lucy ...... would you please carry me, my feet hurts". Kathleen was startled , of course her feet must be hurt she has been here all morning , she looked into her pleading eyes and felt sorry. Crouching down she picked her up surprisingly she wasn't that heavy and started walking again. They haven't gone a few steps when Kathleen saw a figure approaching them, when it came into view she saw it was a woman. "Lucy, honey where have you been?", she said running towards the girl, Lucy at once got down from Kathleen and ran towards the woman.
" Mommy," she screamed and wrapped her arms around her neck. The women looked back at Kathleen and silently mouthed a thank you. They turned and started to walk away, Kathleen tried to say something but then her body began to turn cold as she stared in disbelief , Lucy and her mother had just disappeared into thin air right before her eyes. She began to run , sweating profusely , her feet ached so badly she could view the gate in front of her as she neared she saw someone lying on her path. She had to pass the body which blocked her trail. "I hope it doesn't hurt me", she thought. Stepping slowly she went pass it and fled out as she did she glanced back and saw its face. It was her husband, his clothes were torn, he was lying in a pool of blood the his jaw seemed dislocated from his head and he had a hideous grin on his face. Shocked she fled from the dreadful place she didn't even stop for a moment not even to catch her breath." Is David hurt? , was that really him?, should I go back?" , she began to ponder on million questions but she kept moving ahead until she reached a great distance farther away from the cemetery then she slowed her paced. The rays of the sun was beginning to penetrate through the clouds now a few cars now passed the road. She sighed in relief as she approached a bend as her house was situated nearby. A crowd was gathered at the middle of the road she scanned the road properly and saw a car lay upside a few distance, it was smashed badly. A van was parked at few distance too, the front of the vehicle was punctured. A few men had surrounded a man who seemed frightened and wouldn't let him go."please let me go", he pleaded, " It was not my fault the oncoming car was approaching so fast..............I........ Instantly the ambulance and police came and cleared the place ,as they did Kathleen saw a body lying in a pool of blood its clothes were torn, it had a dislocated lower jaw and had a hideous grin. It was David......and he was dead.
