Chapter 27: Picked Your Door

Diane's P.O.V

"What are you doing?" I asked as Cassy made a mess in the small kitchen. 

"Burgers what else does it look like?" She said as she laid the meat in a pan but I don't think she was doing them right.

"Should we go out for food?" I asked reluctantly.

"No! I can do it. Have a little faith." She stressed as she kept trying to work on what she was calling 'burgers'.

I walked outside to the porch and sat on the rocking chair opposing Ana.

"What are we going to do?" She asked concearned as I sighted.

"I... Honestly have no idea. What can be done? It's inevitable, I have no choice. I love Nick but I crave Ryan, there's nothing I can possibly do. I can't deny my mate because if I do that I'll go insane and never know true love, but on the other hand if I don't choose Nick my pack will debilitate and possibly go extinct as  Nick's pack would become my rival." I said and placed my head between my hands in frustration. 

"How about an invisibility spell... Ryan won't be able to see, smell, touch, or harm you. You'll be invisible but only to him." Ana suggested.

"That's great for the time being... but what about a more permanent solution?" I asked. Invisibility would come in handy but it wouldn't last forever, and it would only result as a stall.

"I, I have nothing... yet." Said Ana in an attempt to convince me. "But, trust me, I'll think of something." She finished but it sounded more as to convince herself rather than me.

I guess I should go for it, she's the only one offering me a solution...

"Let's do it then." I said definitively.

"I know just what to do... Give me your necklace." She requested.

"Why? Aren't you going to enchant me?" I asked confused. This necklace has a long history, I don't think I'll be able to put it in any danger.

"Well the spell is much more effective when casted upon an item, specially if it's a personal artifact. But fine, how about... that charm bracelet?" She asked pointing towards it.

"Sure," I took it off an gave it to her.

She grabbed it and closed both of her hands over it while chanting something.

"You know, it's kinda ironic. Nick gave me that bracelet." I said with a dry chuckle, but it was more to myself than anything else.

"There, done." She said and handed it over to me.  I locked the bracelet back on my wrist.

"Foods ready!" Cas called from inside.

"Do we have a safe-fail plan?" I asked Ana.

"Um... not really, let's hope for the best." She said and walked in.  I trailed in behind her to find deliciously looking burgers.

"How the..." I trailed of in shock as I sat down at the table.

"See, I told you I knew what I was doing." Cas said and sat on another chair joining Ana and me.

We quickly dug in and devoured every single one of those delicious burgers. As I ate I looked out the windows and for a second I felt like I was alone again. For a minute, my mind traveled to another space; another dimension.  One where all the little things and details became most relevant.

The sun was setting. Kind of like my life right now.  The brightness turning dark, the colors turning to pitch-black nothingness, and the visibility of day being completely gone.

My life had become a dark barren maze and I felt lost, without a clue of where to go.

"Guys, I'm a little tired. I'll go ahead to bed now." I said but in realitiy I just wanted to clear my thoughts. At first company seemed like the right choice, but right now I just want to be alone.

"You rest Dee, I have to get home anyways, if not my mom will kill me..." Cassy said and we all stood up and walked towards the entrance.

We were now out on the porch and saying our good byes, Ana had to leave as well since Cassy was her ride.

After hugs and kisses, I waved them good bye and walked back inside.

I clicked the lock on the door and walked to the master bedroom, and only bedroom of the cabin. I took off my clothes and grabbed a towel so I could take a shower.

I walked into the ensuite and turned on the hot water. Swinging my towel over the shower rack, I let the water envelop me.

I ladder soap  on myself and shampoo on my hair. Then I take it out and let conditioner sit on it now.

I wanted not to think about anything, but this one image was carved into my brain  for me to see every time I closed my eyes.

It was him, Ryan, and the last I saw of him as I ran away.

Betrayal.

He was hurting, I could tell. But I don't really understand, what did he expect?

It's not like I'll magically forget all the shit he's done, it's not fair.

I don't know what to do...

I let the water rinse away the conditioner and whatever soap might be left on my body. I grab the towel and dry myself and my hair with it. I wrap it around my waist and walk out  to the bedroom again.

I stumble back in surprise and shock.

"Ryan, what the fuck?! How did you get in here?!" I question angrily.  

"Calm Down," He tells me.

"Don't tell me to fucking calm down!" I say my alpha voice coming through.  I didn't even know I had one.

He whimpered and said "Hear me out."

"No, I want you out of here! How did you get in in the first place?" I asked as I looked for some clothes in the dresser that was there.

"Your windows were open." He lied. I knew it was a lie because they've never been opened.

I turned to look at him shooting him a glare of disbelief.

"Fine you caught me, I picked the lock on your front door." I wasn't surprised, it surly mustn't have been the first time he's done it.  

"How can you see me?" I asked.  Did Ana's spell work?

"I can't, I just feel your presence and hear you in my head. What did you do Diane?" He asked looking around him self but not focusing on anything.

"I did what I had to. You should leave." I said sternly.

"No, we need to talk and either way you can't kick me out.  I don't care about whatever you did to become invisible, I'm staying." He said stubbornly and he was right.

He can't touch me which means I can't touch him.

Fuck.
