"That'll be eight bucks even," the bored gas station cashier told you, scanning the last of your candy. You made sure to get a variety, not knowing what Dinah would like. Taking out your wallet, you handed the worker a five dollar bill and three ones, then took your bags of food.

"Have a good one," the employee said, and you returned the phrase, walking out the door to find your friend. Dinah finished topping off her truck with gas, then hopped in on the driver's side. You climbed into the passenger seat, setting the bags on the console. The taller girl immediately tore into the bag, rummaging through its contents.

"You did good, Y/N," she praised, buckling up. "Reese's are my favorite."

"Good. But don't eat them all, because they're my favorite too." You replied and Dinah smiled as she pulled out of the parking lot and onto the highway, beginning your three hour ride.

"You know where we're going, right?" She asked.

"Yeah, it's really just a straight shot south on the interstate. I'll tell you when to exit."

"Okay."

You pulled the plastic sacks off of the center console and placed them at your feet, settling into your seat. Dinah adjusted the Yankee's hat on her head and gripped the wheel with only her left hand, her right one resting where the candy bags once sat. She tapped her thumb on the steering wheel's faded leather mindlessly, then looked over to you with a faint smirk.

"So, what do you want to do on this road trip, Y/N? Play a game, listen to music, what?"

You shrugged. "We could talk?"

"Talk? About what?"

"Everything, I guess."

"Okay. Let's start simple. What's your favorite color?"

You thought for a moment, then  smiled cheekily. "The color of your eyes."

Dinah chuckled in response. "Smooth, Y/N. But really, what is it?"

"Blue. Ocean blue, to be specific."

You wanted to say the color of Dinah's hoodie that she always wore, but thought better of it.

"Me too," she nodded.

Just then, you phone vibrated repeatedly in your pocket, startling you. On the screen was a phone call from your father. You couldn't ignore him.

"Hey dad," you started, causing Dinah to glance over at you.

"Hey princess. Just checking in. Where are you?"

"We're just getting onto the interstate."

"Good! You aren't too far behind your mom and sister." He paused, probably waiting on a response from you. It never came. "Well, I'll, uh, let you go. Love you."

"Love you too," you mumbled back, ending the call.

"Your dad?" Dinah asked, her expression kind and curios.

"Yeah," you responded, opening up a pack of Reese's. Dinah reached her hand out for one, and you granted her silent request.
