(SORRY FOR BEING GONE FOR LIKE EVER FRIENDS BUT I GOT A NEW COMPUTER A WHILE AGO SO I'M PUMPED)

"Oh boo-hoo Jeremy," The Squip sneered glaring at the teenage boy. "In order to upgrade you have to make sacrifices!"

Jeremy yelled, pulling at his hair in frustration and turned to face the robot. "I never wanted this!" Tears threatened to spill out of his eyes.

The Squip laughed exasperatedly, "This was the only way to get what you wanted Jeremy!"

Jeremy paced the room, staring down at the floor as he worried at his bottom lip. "I never wanted to get rid of my lifetime long friend.." He barely spoke a whisper. "He'll never speak to me again because of you!" He turned to the man once more with tears in his eyes.

"Don't pin that on me! You said and did everything of your own accord!" The Squip yelled back, becoming angry. "I only pushed you along." An angry wicked smile present on his face.

The tears rolled down his face and he looked away from the cold man.

"I don't want the upgrade if it means getting rid of Michael." His voice was sharp but quiet.

"It's too late Jeremy," The Squip's whisper felt like ice whipping against his skin and neck. "He's already gone."

Jeremy woke up in a cold sweat, the blankets tangled around his legs. His breath was short and tears stung at his eyes. He sat up and took in a deep breath before he checked his phone for the time.

3:36am

Damn it's early... He thought wiping the tears away from his eyes. He reached over to his bedside table and picked up a can of unopened mountain dew red™. He popped the top open and took a swig of the room temperature drink before setting it back down with a sigh.

The nightmares that came post-Squip always shook Jeremy up, and for a while afterwards he'd believe anything the Squip had said in the dreams.

Although.. as he typed in Michael's number he felt a pang of guilt.

He'd continued to have these nightmares for months now and every time he had one, he'd called Michael. He was always there for the shaken up teen, no matter what time it was.

He stared at the number for a few minutes as his breathing attempted to even out. He closed the phone app and opened up messages. He typed out a message on the phone and sent it before he started to get dressed

Hey Michael.. uh, I kw it's late but I'm coming over... you.. you don't hate me right?

Jeremy pulled on his jumper and shoes before he crept into the kitchen. He grabbed the whiteboard marker and wrote his dad a little note telling him where he was going and not to worry.

He put down the marker and made his way outside.

"Why does it always have to be raining at times like these?" He muttered venomously, although quietly.

He'd better start walking.

Jeremy knocked on on the all too familiar door and waited. The rain was coming down in buckets, the wind an icy-cold whisper. There was a series of clicks, and then the door opened. Jeremy saw a tired looking Mrs. Mell standing there, ushering him inside.

"Jeremy, what are you doing here so early?" She asked in a hushed whisper. Jeremy was shaking from the low temperature and stuttered out an apology trying to avoid eye-contact. Mrs. Mell must have seen through his poorly built facade and smiled. "It's alright sweetie, I don't mind. Michael's in his room, probably sleeping. You can go on up if you'd like, just try to be quiet, okay?"

Jeremy nodded and she kissed his forehead like she always did when he came over. He walked up the stairs quietly and opened the door to Michael's room. The brunette was wrapped up in a thick blanket, fast asleep, with a sleepy smile on his face. Jeremy smiled to himself before sitting against the wall.

The room was dark and silent, but Jeremy could still hear Michael's soft snores. And that was enough.

He curled into himself and tried to sleep. But it wasn't working. He was sure if he was near Michael then he'd be able to sleep-

"Jeremy..." A soft voice mumbled. He looked over at where the bed would be and stayed silent. A sniffle and hiccup was heard before Jeremy threw himself over to his player 2.

He put his hand on the bed and moved it over Michael's sleeping body until he found his messy hair. Michael shivered under his friend's touch and pulled the blanket up over his shoulders. "Don't leave.." The sleeping boy muttered through tears. "I'm sorry.."

"It's okay Micha," Jeremy whispered, carding his hand through his best friend's dark curls. Michael's sniffles died down slowly and silence filled the room. "I'm the one who should be sorry." He muttered to himself and sighed.

Michael's whole body tensed and Jeremy took that as a hint to let go of his hair.

"Michael?"

"J-Jeremy?" Michael stuttered, sitting up quickly. "What the hell are you doing in my room?!" Jeremy clamped a hand over his friend's mouth and shushed him. "Your mum let me in." He said quietly.

Michael ripped Jeremy's hand off of his mouth and turned on the bedside lamp. They both winced at the sudden light, "Okay, but like.." Michael glanced at the alarm clock's glowing red numbers and groaned. "Dude it's almost four am. Why are you here?" Jeremy shrugged with a smile. "I was just born that way Mell."

A smack from a pillow made him laugh. "Hey," Jeremy snickered, raising his arms to defend his face. "Don't hit me!" Michael stopped his attack and nuzzled into Jeremy's shoulder.

Michael mumbled something incoherent into the soft t-shirt fabric. "What was that?"

"Nothing," Michael yawned as he spoke. "Seriously though, why'd you come over?" Jeremy sighed and wrapped his arms around the Filipino boy. "We're still friends.. right?" He asked, unsure.

Michael looked up at Jeremy, his lack of glasses rendering him blind. He knew what was up and nodded before he spoke, "Yeah we are Jer, don't ever doubt that." A weight lifted off of the teen's shoulders.

"Did you drink the mountain dew before you came over?" Jeremy nodded, making the tears slip down his pale face. "Okay, that's good."

They stayed in each others arms for a few minutes, before Michael pulled away. He scooted over to the other side of the bed at hit the mattress lightly. "Lay down Jer-bear." Jeremy did as told and pulled the blankets up and over their body's.

Michael snuggled up against Jeremy's skinny frame and hummed in contentment. Jeremy hugged him and rested his chin on Michael's head.

It wasn't unusual for them to snuggle in bed at night, but for some reason this time, Jeremy's chest fluttered like a thousand butterflies when Michael nuzzled into his chest adorably. Jeremy sighed happily as he wiped away his tears.

"Goodnight Mikey." Jeremy whispered closing his eyes sleepily.

"Night Jer..." Michael mumbled softly, already half asleep.

And for once, Jeremy was able so sleep through the night.
