Rewards Times Eight

Nicki's pov:

Gathering the girls up this morning I kept Lyric close to me for the day.

"So today we have nothing planned" I say.

"Shocker" says Jasmine.

"But we do have something to give to all of you" Mariah says.

"These envelopes hold all of the work you did in this program. Including the reports we sent to your parents. "

"You are to do one last assignment today" Paris says.

"And that is?" Madyson asks.

"To write your graduation speech" I answer. "Just a few words of what you got out of the program and what you see in yourself now vs. before"

"And a sentence for your parents" Rih says.

"K will be there along with head mistress" I say.

"We can help you with your speeches if you would like but that's all we have for you " Mariah says.

"Except Lyric" I say. "You will be with me and Gabby. " I say walking out the room with her.

Lyric's pov:

I had to go with Nicki and Gabby to meet my social worker and my biological father. Going into her office they were talking amongst themselves when we walked in.

"Okay let's get started" my social worker started. We all took a seat. "Now Nicki adopted Lyric about a month ago."

"Don't break it" I say sitting up. They all just look at me.

"I wasn't going to break it. If anything I wanted to work something out with you" he says looking at Nicki.

"Work out what?"

"A schedule of days for me and Lyric to hang out" he says.

"Look I'm not one to keep family away from each other, unless needed. I think I can trust you but it's up to her if she trusts you enough for that along with the system" Nicki says.

"There are options on how to do this but it's all in the matter if Lyric is comfortable" my social worker says.

"So Lyric, what will it be?" Nicki asks me.

"I'm okay with weekend visits. I feel okay with that" I say.

"So weekend visitation. Is there a time limit you would like to have or no?"

"No later than 11 o'clock pm" I say.

"Okay. Can I have you and you to step out for a few moments?" She asks looking at me and Gabby. We walk out the room.

Nicki's pov:

"Look I won't care about the holidays but she is stay with me since I'm responsible for her. And no offense but what will you have planned for holidays if it's just you and her?"

"Nothing special but I'd like to think it'll be memorable " Brian says.

"I think a rotation " her social worker says.

"I can agree to that" I say.

"Listen I will check in on Lyric between the both of you. Being that she will be provided a better environment and home I can trust that she will be in good hands, however you are a busy women after this program Nicki. I have to ask how she will be looked after"

"Lyric isn't even that bad. She has trust issues but she looks to me for security. And she is old enough to look after herself somewhat. I have my niece with me all the time and I will have Lyric with me all the time. Now she is considered family and I will treat her like Gabby. With love and care and discipline when appropriate " I answer.

"Okay. Is that it?" She asks looking between me and Brian.

"Oh and if needed I will have Brian to look after her" I say. We all laugh a bit.

"Okay. I appreciate your time and I look forward to seeing the progress" she says giving us both a handshake. I walk out and leave with Gabby and Lyric.

"When we get back dinner will be getting started and you have to do your speech. " I say to them.
