Phil sighed happily as he stepped out of the shower, rubbing a towel over his hair to make it drip less. He placed his glasses on and stepped out of the bathroom, not bothering to wrap it around his waist as Dan had left a few minutes before. He hummed to the song blasting on the speakers in the lounge as he walked into his bedroom, opening his drawer to get out his boxers. He heard shuffling behind him and turned around, his eyes almost popping out of his head at the sight of Dan standing in the doorway.
"Hey Phil, have you seen my w-" They both froze, Dan's eyes glued on Phil's naked body for a split second before they both freaked out, Dan screaming and turning around while Phil turner around as well, grabbing the nearest boxers and throwing them on. They didn't say anything for a while, both too shocked to think.
"I thought you left." Phil squeaked out after a while, his cheeks as red as tomatoes.
"Yeah I, uh, forgot my wallet." Dan mumbled, scratching the back of his neck uncomfortably.
"It's on the coffee table." Phil whispered. Dan nodded and walked away, fetching his wallet and leaving.

Dan sniffled again, pulling his knees closer to his chest and burying his face in his hands. His cheeks were burning and his throat was sore from all his muffled sobs. He was trying his best not to wake Phil up, but he couldn't help his breath catching in his throat and the loud sobs that escaped his lips. He didn't even know why he was crying. Maybe it was the stress. Maybe it was uni that was completely ruining him. Or maybe it was because he was confused. He really wasn't sure. All he knew was he was crying his eyes out and his door was opening.
"Dan?" Phil croaked out, his voice husky from sleep. Dan sniffled again, glancing up as Phil walked over to him, sitting down on the bed next to him and wrapping his arms around him. Dan buried his head in Phil's chest, sobbing even louder as Phil whispered into his ear, telling him that it would all be okay.

"Do we have to do this?" Dan whined for the thousandth time that day, stretching out in his seat and pouting at Phil.
"Yes, we have to do this. I want to meet your parents Dan!" Phil reasoned, looking up from his book at Dan who was still pouting.
"We're already on the train so what's the point in chickening out now?" Dan shrugged.
"Maybe I don't want them to meet my weird friend who loves lions way more than is healthy." Dan explained, resting his feet on Phil's thighs and smirking.
"I'm meeting your parents Dan, now stop whining." Dan smiled and nodded, looking out the window at the landscape speeding past them. Two hours later they stood in front of Dan's parents' house, Dan's hands shaking slightly and a wide grin on Phil's face. Dan's mum opened the door, smiling at the two boys.
"Hello Mrs.Howell, it's nice to meet you."
+
"I can't believe this." Dan grumbled, shaking his head in frustration. Phil sighed, looking down at the floor.
"Another one, Phil. Why do you keep doing this?" Dan hissed through gritted teeth, glaring over at Phil who stood shamefully at the other end of the kitchen.
"I'm sorry Dan. I shouldn't have done it, I know. Please forgive me." Phil pleaded, looking up at Dan with hopeful eyes. This had to work. He didn't know what would happen if Dan didn't forgive him. Dan shook his head, rubbing his temples in frustration and closing his eyes.
"I'll never forgive you, Phil." Dan growled, his glare growing fiercer with each passing second.
"I'm so sorry Dan. You have to forgive me." Phil pleaded again, his eyes tearing up. Dan didn't say anything, not even looking back at Phil as he thought. Was it worth it? Was Phil worth all this pain?
"Okay. I'll forgive you." Dan mumbled, looking over at Phil's idiotic grin.
"But from now on we're buying two boxes of cereal."

Dan sat completely still, his heart racing in anticipation of what was about to happen. He hadn't seen Phil in almost a week, he was going into withdrawal. He grinned when he saw Phil's face grinning up at him as the skype ringtone sounded throughout the lounge and he clicked accept.
"Hey Danny!" Phil exclaimed from the other side, grinning at Dan and Dan grinned back.
"Hey Philly. I miss you!" Dan smiled, his heart racing from seeing Phil again. Phil smiled too.
"I miss you too!! You better not throw any huge parties before I come back home!" Phil chuckled and Dan shook his head.
"Nah, I've already had like three parties, that's enough." Phil shook his head with a smile.
"Yeah right, Dan the party animal." Dan smiled.
"You're coming home in two days, right?" Dan asked, his voice coming out almost desperate. Phil smiled sweetly and nodded.
"Yup. I would come home sooner but the flight takes so long and we have plans tomorrow." Dan nodded, smiling sadly at Phil.
"It's good that you're having fun though." Dan said and Phil nodded.
"Yeah it's been really fun!" And then he went on to tell Dan in detail what he had been up to in Florida, and Dan smiled because he really missed Phil and his stupid rambles.

"Hey Dan?" Phil whispered, snuggling closer to Dan and squeezing him tighter.
"What is it?" Dan mumbled sleepily, nuzzling his head further into Phil's chest.
"We'll be friends forever, right?" Dan smiled.
"Of course. I'm marrying you Phil. I can guarantee I'm not going anywhere." Phil smiled, squeezing Dan even tighter and burying his face in his hair, closing his eyes and falling asleep to Dan's soft snores.

"Hey Peej?"
"What is it?"
"You didn't forget the rings did you?"
"No, why?"
"Just wondering what I forgot."
"Dude seriously, you're in the middle of your ceremony, stop worrying." Dan nodded, looking away from PJ and at Phil standing across from him, his usual idiotic grin even wider and his pale cheeks stained with tear-tracks.
"Daniel?" Dan looked up at the priest with wide eyes, not knowing at all what was going on.
"What?" Dan asked and Phil chuckled, squeezing Dan's hand gently.
"Will you take Philip to be your husband?" Dan's eyes widened even more and he looked back at Phil who was smiling at him. Dan smiled back, squeezing Phil's hands and nodding.
"I do." Phil giggled, his cheeks turning a deep crimson. The priest cleared his throat, turning his head to Phil.
"Philip Michael Lester, do you take Daniel James Howell to be your lawfully wedded husband till death do you part?" Phil smiled, another tear escaping his blue eyes.
"Of course I do." Tears started falling from Dan's eyes then, but he didn't care.
"I now pronounce you married. You may kiss." Phil didn't waste a second before he pulled Dan closer to him, kissing him with all his love.
"You won't leave me, will you?" Dan whispered tearfully, smiling down at Phil who grinned back.
"Never, I could never leave you." Dan held out his pinky, smirking.
"Promise?" Phil chuckled, wrapping his pinky around Dan's.
"Pinky promise."

Dan stood there, frozen. He couldn't believe it. He couldn't believe this was happening. Everyone came up to him, offering their sympathy during this hard time and telling him that he shouldn't be afraid to ask if he needed anything. He didn't really say anything, just nodded. Dan's parents were there, sitting in the front line and waiting for him to join them. Phil's mum was there too, sitting next to the empty seat Dan was supposed to sit in. He eventually made himself sit down, but he didn't look forward. He didn't want to see it, he didn't want it to become real. It was like Schrödinger's cat. If he didn't see it, didn't have evidence that it was real, then it may or may not be real. But he knew. He knew it was real. He knew because he was there alone, because there was no empty seat next to him. Phil's mum held his hand the whole time while his own mum had her arms draped over his shoulders. It didn't help though. It didn't make him feel better. How could he feel better when he was at his best friend's, his husband's, his soulmate's funeral.
