Gabriel dug the key out of his pants pocket while balancing the bag of groceries in the other hand, and managed to unlock the door without dropping anything. It was five o'clock in the afternoon - one hour till David would come - and he figured he still had enough time to shower and change into something more fancy than the ripped jeans and faded sweater he was currently wearing before he had to make their dinner. He just hoped that David didn't dislike any of the food or, worse, had any allergies and their night would end in the emergency room of a hospital.
He began to prepare the fish and the spinach so he could shower while everything was in the oven for twenty minutes or so. The closer the time wandered to six o'clock the more he was aware of the burning need that hadn't lessened since last night when David had told him not to jerk off. It had been pure torture and he was sure that he was sporting a nice pair of blue balls by now because he felt like a constantly horny teen.
There was a knock on the door at half past five. Half an hour early. Not that he complained about it, he couldn't wait to see David either, touch him, taste him. Gabriel dried his hands on a towel and went to the door to let his guest in.
"He-" The word died on his lips, a deep frown marring his forehead as he took in the unexpected sight.
"Hi." She held up a bottle of red wine. "I saw you in the lobby earlier and thought we could spend the evening together."
His frown deepened. "I actually have plans."
She cocked her head to the side and smiled, the bottle still between them. "Really?"
"Yes, really," he sighed and hoped that she would just return to her own flat without causing a scene. There was really no need to discuss with her why the combination of wine and woman didn't do it for him.
The sound of the elevator doors opening at the end of the hallway made her turn her head. Her eyes narrowed slightly at whoever was coming their way, heavy footsteps on white marble. Gabriel's stomach did that weird little flip and he feared how the situation might look from the outside.
"Good evening," David greeted them politely and gazed at the young woman confused.
"Hi," she replied and pulled back her hand, the wine now dangling next to her leg.
Gabriel opened the door wider and thankfully David didn't hesitate to come in.
"Perhaps another time," he said with a tight smile and closed the door in her face. As soon as her footsteps faded down the hallway, David began to chuckle in obvious amusement.
"What?" Gabriel wanted to know and his breath hitched as David pulled him closer by the waistband of his pants.
"Right on time," he mumbled with a cheeky smile and kissed Gabriel softly. It was like no time had passed at all, their bodies still attuned to each other, perfect.
"You're too early," Gabriel panted against David's lips.
"Couldn't wait to see you," David said, leaning forward to again lick his way into Gabriel's mouth.
"Me neither." He peppered kisses down David's jaw and sucked on the spot where his pulse fluttered erratically.
"And I saved you from some evil looking boobs," David pointed out with a breathy chuckle.
"My knight in shining armor," Gabriel purred and threaded his fingers through David's dark hair. They silently gazed at each other for a few moments, reacquainting to something they had missed a lot but had never really forgotten.
"The food isn't done yet," Gabriel admitted ruefully and David pecked his lips.
"Don't worry." He shrugged his shoulders. "My fault for being too early, isn't it?"
