tyler had called josh again, asking him out for coffee at this adorable place tyler had seen not to long ago.

"i heard they're famous for their hot chocolate." tyler explains. "so what i'm getting here, is that you want to go on a date with me, after you totally cockblocked me?" josh asks in disbelief.

"well, yeah. think of it as me saying sorry." tyler says, josh could sense tyler was smiling through his voice.

he thought over it for a while, before nodding.

"it's a date."

🍌🍒🍑

josh had to do a double take when he saw tyler, not because he looked gorgeous or whatever. but because the brunette had never looked so innocent when he met with josh, in a white sweater and jeans, he looked like he sold flowers for a living.

which obviously, he did not.

"hey, sorry i was late." tyler apologises as he jogged over to josh, whom was standing at the entrance of the coffee shop. "it's fine, you certainly look nice." josh complimented.

"thank you! you cleaned up nicely too josh." tyler flirts, lightly punching his arm. josh rolled his eyes and picked up a menu. "what do you want?" he asks.

"a hot chocolate- but i can pay, really."

"nonsense, you're the lady here." josh replied simply, making tyler blush gently.

josh looked through the menu, before excusing himself to order their drinks. for josh, black coffee. for tyler, hot chocolate.

their drinks came soon enough after josh had ordered them. "black coffee? aren't you a man." tyler teased, licking some froth off his finger from the hot chocolate. "you could say so, breakfast of champions." josh shrugs, tyler grins. "if being a champion means yellow teeth and bad breath- i'll pass." tyler giggled.

"good thing this champion has mints in his pocket." josh shot back, smiling to show off his perfect white teeth that would make dentists weep in glory.

tyler rolled his eyes, sipping the chocolaty drink. "have you always lived around here? columbus is only so big and i've never seen you around before." the brunette asks.

"i've moved around sorta for-for work." josh shrugged, tapping his fingers on the wooden table absentmindedly. "that's right, you're a police officer aren't you?" tyler says, which made josh confused at first, before he realised that's what he'd told tyler. "oh, yeah, i didn't have to move here for work i just- i wanted a familiar setting. i was born and raised here." josh explains, watching tyler's face contort into one of excitement. "no shit! me too!" he smiles, josh nodding. "so you went to high school here, right? where abouts?" tyler asked, sipping his hot chocolate while josh came up with an answer. "mifflin, you?" josh spoke, watching tyler. "worthington." he answers, josh chuckling. "ain't that a fuckin' christian school?" josh asks, tyler nodding.

"you bet, mom wasn't too pleased when i announced what i would do for money." tyler giggled and winked, putting his mug down. "i'll bet." josh grinned.

"your mom must be proud though, mr police officer josh." tyler laughs, josh rolling his eyes. "she was mostly just worried i'd get shot or some shit, but she doesn't gotta worry." josh shrugs, tyler just laughs.

✨✨✨

the date came to an end after they'd exchanged stories about themselves with each other, josh liked tyler, maybe just as a friend, but he didn't just see him as an item anymore, really.

josh dropped tyler off at his house, tyler blowing a kiss to josh's direction before walking inside. josh cheekily pretended to catch it before driving off, he had business anyway.
