Part 4: The Noose

I woke up on a cot with unnatural light scalding my eyeballs. "She survived, although it is a miracle she didn't break any bones," the strange man in a white lab coat states, "but she will have to stay bed for a couple weeks to recuperate."

"Eh," a lazy voice spoke near my ear, "It won't matter unless we can get her out of that noose. Her hanging is set for tomorrow." I had a feeling I wasn't supposed to be hearing this but the curiosity felt like it was slowly killing my brain cells, or maybe that was my monster headache.

A door slammed open but it seemed like it was from an alternate universe. The darkness seemed to be taking me over again ,slowly, so slow that I didn't even realise it at first, but when I did it was too late.

When I woke I felt a rough bristly fabric tied around my wrists, eyes and ankles, so tight that I had lost all feeling and movement in my hands. Suddenly, though I was jerked forward, so fast that I pitched forward onto my face. From somewhere I heard a cruel chuckle. "Maybe you should have thought twice before snooping in someone's office and stealing their stuff. But maybe if you tell me where you put them, I'll let you go." that same voice sneered.

Choking I whispered a quiet, "I d-don't k-know where i-it is..." I wasn't technically lying, Damian could have them anywhere by now.

"Well you better figure it out now because you're on." he spat, looking completely disgusted as he untied the rope around my eyes. When I could finally see, I saw a large structure with a miniature ladder and a pole with a noose hanging from it. Seems like my instincts were right, but it's not like I had any choice, he would have killed me.

Much too soon I felt myself being dragged onto the podium, and pushed onto the rickety blood-stained ladder. Shivering, I can only imagine what must have happened for the ladder to become permanently stained with blood, unless this was fresh... I quickly pushed that thought from my brain.

Just as they were about to pull the ladder out from under me and watch me choke to death in amusement, I heard a loud bang. At first I was confused as to what was happening, my mind muddled from my near death experience. Then I saw the fire and phantom like smoke, everyone was running completely forgetting about the woman stranded up here! Boom! Toxic fumes surrounded me clogging my lungs and catching fire to my clothes. I could feel arms wrap around me, but it was too late, my skin was already melting into a big pile of flesh.

Distantly I heard someone shout for water and a doctor, he sounded vaguely familiar but my poisoned brain didn't register it. Suddenly for the second time in two days, I lost myself in the darkness.

A ringing sound was stealing away my hearing, and when I tried to open my eyes all I saw was red, bright neverending red. The first thing I felt was the stiff, rigid skin on my right thigh. Nervously, I reached down to feel it, but my hand never reached there, as someone shouted, "She's moving, your lucky she's alive, if she had died I would have cut off your hands!" When I could finally crack open my eyes, I looked at the voice's owner and geez louise he looked like he came straight from the army punishment camps. His buzzed brown hair and staggering height with muscles to go along with it, surprisingly he looked a lot like me, minus the muscles and height, of course. Suddenly a flashback hit me,
Giggling with joy, I ran down to meet bro, we were the best of best friends, but he kept leaving for those stupid military camps he was forced to go to. When I reached him, I jumped into his arm and gave him an enormous bear hug. When he put me down though I saw he was no longer smiling. Instead tears shimmered in his eyes, "Bro-bro what's wrong, aren't you happy to see me?" I questioned him.

"Of course I am, it's just that this is the last time I'll be seeing you for a while. I'm going off to fight the Gagagillians," he answered, mustering up a weak smile, that didn't even come close to tricking me.

Sorry for cutting it off here but I'm trying to make the chapters short, you know since it's a short story
