Stiles stood at his best friend's  doorstep. Having a conversation with him.
"Are you sure you don't want to come in like a normal person?" Scott asked.
"Nope. I'm good out here." Stiles said rocking on
his heel.
"You're gonna get heat stroke." Scott said.
"I'll risk it." Stiles said.
"You're so stupid."
Scott laughed.
"Who are you talking to down here, weirdo?" Jackson asked.
"I was just...Stiles was just here..." Scott insisted.
"Sure he was." Jackson slapped Scott's back. "I'm gonna go practice lacrosse with my real friend Danny.
Tell mom I should be back by dinner." Jackson left shortly after. Followed by Stiles' miraculous reappearance.
"Why are you avoiding my brother?" Scott asked.
"I'm not avoiding him! I just... dropped something in the bush." Stiles lied stepping in.
"Yeah, okay. He's always been super nice to you. Why are hiding like he did something wrong?" Scott asked.
"I'm not..." Stiles said softly.
"Prove it. Mom's throwing a last weekend of summer party for us on Saturday night. We can invite friends.
If you show up here Saturday at 8:00 and look him in the eyes for three seconds I will never bother you again."
Scott challenged.
"Mm...Fine. Whatever. Deal." Stiles said. Ready to end the conversation.

The Night Of The Party

Stiles felt like he was staring death in the face.
In reality it was a small gathering with his best friend and his best friend's brother.
"You actually came! Compliments buddy. Scott said as he ushered Stiles in.
"I need a drink." Were the first thing he said.
"Punch bowl is over there." Scott nodded to the long table on the back wall.
"Not what I had in mind." Stiles said dryly.
"It's spiked." Scott whispered.
"And that is why you're my best friend." Stiles tapped Scott's chest before going over to the table.
"Enjoying that drink?" Jackson asked from
behind Stiles.
"It's the only thing keeping me here, so yes." Stiles said.
"It's the strangest thing but I got the impression that you have been avoiding me all summer." Jackson said.
"Jackson! Hi! Uh...hi." Stiles said alarmed as
he spun around.
"Hi." Jackson chuckled.
"You're here." Stiles stated.
"I live here, freak. You're taller." Jackson noticed.
"Not really." Stiles said.
"And you grew out your hair!" Jackson said warmly.
"Mm-hmm. I should probably get it cut before I go out to school." Stiles nervously pulled at his curls.
"Well I like it." Jackson said.
"Really?" Stiles asked shyly.
"Yeah. You should keep it.
It looks good on you." Jackson tousled Stiles' hair.
"Hi Jackson. You're so kind. Being nice to the lesser beings like it means something.
Dance with me." Lydia pulled him to the dance floor.
Jackson mouthed "Bye, kiddo." As he was carried off.
Stiles pouted and grabbed a blanket wrapped pig. Chewing like an animal.
"You did good." Scott said.
"I was a nervous stammering loser but it was nice. Up until Lydia Martin showed up and whisked him away." Stiles grabbed a turkey sandwich.
"Where did you two go wrong? You had the hugest crush on her." Scott poured himself a drink.
"Yes. Up until two years ago when she started being  a stuck up bitch and the biggest slut to darken the halls." Stiles said dryly.
"That's harsh." Jackson said.
"But true." Stiles smiled.
"You should do that more." Jackson filled the cups.
"Do what?" Stiles asked.
"Smile. Enjoy your night, Bambi." Jackson walked away.
Stiles was getting the sneaking suspicion that Jackson was flirting with him.
But that's not possible...right?
