I woke up at around 5:30 that morning. I looked outside. Still dark. I thought about going back to sleep, but I wasn't really tired. I got out of my bed and quietly went downstairs. It was July 9th, 2451. I had just turned 15 a few days before. My only family I knew of lived with me. That was my older sister, Grace, my little brother, Kruze, and my parents. My other family members lived in Europe. That's where the epidemic spread. Europe was evacuated but many couldn't get out. Including all my family there. We got out, though. We moved to America when I was about 4. Anyway, when I went downstairs, my mother was sitting on the couch watching the news. She always did this in the morning, but her facial expressions were extremely exaggerated today. Then she saw me standing not far from her. A smile spread across her face as she said in a pleasant voice,"Good morning, Nadia."
