WORDS (A thought on Words)

Sleek, Fat, Ugly, Beautiful

Joy, Pain, sorrow, rain

We use these words so readily on dark cold nights or under a tree

Whose roots stretch out across the path of righteous men

Trying to trip their feet, tangling their robes unmercifully

Words can be so hurtful too

I'm sure that you've heard a few

In pubs and clubs and private bars

In hotels and in cinemas

Let's choose our words so

carefully, one sounded wrong

And who can know what pain you cause

How little we know of each other's minds

And how to choose what to express

CHOOSE

Yes choose those words so carefully

Then please try and explain to me

How words can be so proud and grand

Tell me how one word can change a life

Like the sharpened blade of a switch blade knife

Yet another can dull the sharpest sword

From a cruel mans tongue

How wise the Prophet who once said

A Rapiers strike is sharp

Yet the pain is swift in passing

But words are like a dull knife

They don't cut deep at first

Yet upon reflection

Hurt can go deeper than that keener blade

Souring a life once so strong and sweet

But by words brought down low

So my children choose your phrases meticulously

And speak not quick to anger

For your words may hurt one so dear to you

That you will never recover the dream you once sought

Love, Pain, Sorrow, Rain and the Joyful tears of life

They all go together my loved ones

So choose your words carefully

You may not get a second chance
