It all happened so fast.
You told me to leave them.
You said we could go back.
But what if we can't?
And what if they're not there when we do?
I woke up to gunshots. "Come out you little rats" I hear someone call out below. I quickly shake Rory awake. "They're here." I tell him.
"Shot." He says. He jumps up grabbing his gun while I put on my belt on, pulling out the shot gun from it. I turn around and see him going to pick up Luks.
"Leave her." I say.
"She's my sister, I'm taking her." He replies, startled by my words.
"I promise she'll be fine." I tell him before grabbing his hand and dragging him to the ladder. We get onto the roof. I look around. There are guards everywhere.
"What do we do now." Rory asks. "Jump." I say, before backing up to the far most edge of the roof.
"What." He asks.
"Jump." I say, before I start running and grab him. "Jump." I yell as we come to the edge of the building.
We land with a thud on the next building. "Quick." I yell, before helping him up "Just keep going." I yell. He continues jumping. I bend down, pull out my gun and shot a shop window a street away. "That'll keep them occupied for a bit." I mutter to myself, before running after Rory, who has now jumped a few buildings ahead of me.
I only slow down when I see Rory standing on the edge of a building. "What are we up against?" I ask, as I come to stand beside him.
"Large gap, thirty metre drop and if you survive that, the streets are crawling with guards." He replied.
"Well dying ain't an option." I say.
"No you're not Arrow." Rory says to me, as I back up to the other edge of the building.
"It's in my blood." I say, before sprinting up to the ledge and launching myself into the air. I tuck my head in and commando roll as I hit the ground. I stand up, brushing myself off and turn to look at a very stunned Rory.
"Now you try." I mouth to him. He backs up against the opposite ledge and dashes, before pushing off the roof, limbs flailing in every direction. "Rory!" I yell diving, just managing to catch him on the ledge. The guards look up from the street, not sure where the commotion came from. Rory grabs my wrist of my left arm with his right, before letting go with the left, causing me to almost fall over with the weight. I grab his right arm with both my hands. He pulls out a gun and aims it for a shop window on the main street. He hits his target, glass shattering and sending the guards to investigate. I pull him onto the roof, which results in him on top of me.
We stare into each others eyes for a second before I break the silence. "God you're so heavy." I moaned making him laugh. We get up but pause. I hear gun shots in the distance. I hope Sophie's alright. I think to myself. I shake off the thought, before continuing along with Rory out of the CBD.
The buildings begin to get smaller and smaller until we jump onto the road, continuing walking that way. The Military had only followed us until the buildings became smaller. We were now entering, what used to be, the industrial district. We would go back soon, see what had happened. But now we were now searching buildings and shops for any medicine.
"How old are you?" Rory asked as we were walking down the road, him with a new back pack full of food, drink and medicine.
"Fifteen." I answered.
"I'm sixteen." He said. I smiled at him.
"Why did you trust me back there?" I asked him "Back at the building, Why did you trust me to leave behind Luks."
"Because," He started, "My mother left me and Luks and that's why I am still alive." "OK my turn." He adds light heatedly "Why are you all alone?" He asks.
"You were all alone." I say.
"I had only just lost my mother, so come on, answer the question." He replies nudging me, making me push him away.
"My Father died when I was four, protecting me and my mum." I said, pausing to look at him. "By the time I was eight, I knew how to wield a gun, so my mother went out hunting one day." "When she came back a strange man had followed her and broke into our house." "He killed her and in a moment of shear anger I shot him, over and over again until he fell to the ground." I finished.
"Why did they protect you so much."
"Because, I know how to end this apocalypse." I said, before looking at him. His expression of shear disbelief changed quickly to one of happiness.
"I knew there was something different about you." He said.
"Yeah I'm crazy I, Wait, What?" I say finally realizing what he just said.
"You heard me." Rory said back.
We walk in silence for a bit until we find a place to sleep fo the night.
"You better be right, you know." Rory said, as I tried to sleep, while he worked on his gun.
"About what?" I asked.
"About Luks being ok." he said.
"She'll be fine, now go to sleep, you'll draw attention to us."
"Fine, mummy." He pouted, before turning off the light and lying next to me.
"Sing me a song." He said after a while
"Fine." I said, not bothered enough to argue

He wrapped his arm around my waist as I continued singing.
In Catholic school,
as vicious as Roman rule,
I got my knuckles bruised, by a lady in black.
And I held my tongue,
as she told me "son,
fear is the hear of love." and I never went back
And then he fell asleep. His arm around me, listening to the sound of my voice.

I think I'm going insane. I had a dream about a zombie apocalypse. Its given me some good ides though. This chapter is longer and hopefully not to mushy. I love this song, its called 'I Will Follow You Into The Dark' and is one of my favourites. I'm really enjoying writing this book (evident by having a nightmare about it,) and I hope you're enjoying reading it. I was home sick today so I decided I would try and make an extra long chapter.
