Chapter Five | Our Connection

  I couldn't face anyone. Over the past month, everything raced back. I remember the battles I fought against Gene. The people I killed. I let my rage and jealousy get in the way. But I just don't understand! Aphmau said she'd wait for Garroth to return. But, she betrayed him. Betrayed us both. So, I couldn't go outside. 
 Everyday Madison would come with food and water. She would tell me the progress, and news on anything. When I first met her she felt like a girl who didn't take anything from anyone, but as the month went on she, she became a loving girl, who'd do anything for this  village. The village loved her. I couldn't blame them.
"So, what's the news for today?" I asked. 
"Tonight the village picks their lord." She smiled. I could tell she was excited for this. "I am not going to stop coming here every day."
I stood up. "You can stop feeling pity for me." 
She put her hand on my shoulder. "I don't. But I want to help you. When I first met you, you were broken, and I want to put you back together." 
"I'm sorry, for saying that." I apologized.
"It's fine." She smiled. That smile was not a fake smile, but a real one.
