Tuesday, April 11th, 1985...a day that would haunt me forever.
Helena Lebel, a twelve-year-old girl, has always lived peacefully with her parents in one of the small towns of Russia, until one day, - April 11th, 1985 - she heard a knock on the door.
When she opened the door, she found no one there...nothing, except for a small note laid on the front mat of her house.
Her twelve-year-old nosy little mind couldn't leave the paper there, closed. She immediately picked it up and slammed the door shut behind her. She was alone at home; she rushed to her bedroom and locked the door, just in case her parents return home and ask her what's in her hand; but poor little Helena didn't know that her parents aren't coming back anymore, that they're long gone and never coming back!
She slowly opened the note, curiosity swelling up in her eyes; the note said: "It just begun..." Written in red; blood. Her parents' blood.
Helena was confused. What did it mean? "It just begun"? What just begun? She didn't know that it was her biggest nightmare. She flipped the paper and noticed an address written; Красная площадь.
After a few seconds, she heard a horn of a car. She rushed outside to find a cab waiting for her. She picked up some of her stuff and got in the cab. She gave the driver the address and waited anxiously -worriedly- until she arrived to the destination.
She was in such a hurry that she almost forgot to pay the driver. She started running until she found the place -Красная площадь- she stood there, frozen, afraid of what might she see there.
She thought just for a second that this was all one of her terrible nightmares and that any second she'll wake up in her bed, safe and sound in her house, her mom would be beside her kissing her forehead and telling her that everything will be okay; but that's not the case, her mom isn't there, she's not dreaming, she's not safe.
She put her self together and started walking in the direction of the street, trying to calm herself down.
She suddenly heard a noise -a cry of pain- coming from one of an abandoned mansion on the other side of the road. She was frightened. Her mom wasn't there to tell her it's okay, her dad wasn't there to keep her safe and tell her that he'll protect her; she was all alone.
She crossed the road to the other side and stood in front of the place still considering running back to her house, but she lost control of her feet. It was an abandoned mansion. Unconsciously, she started walking inside, forcefully. The mansion looked a thousand of years old, dirty, filled with spider webs and rats hiding in the basement, their squeaks filling up the silence. She was startled by another sound -a gunshot- followed by another cry of pain. She almost had a heart attack. For a twelve-year-old this was all too much to handle in one day.
Silence filled up again and everything was muted afterwards. She was so anxious to know what's going on upstairs, so, she started getting up cautiously, trying not to make any sound or else she's doomed. As she reached the last floor, her heart was about to burst into a thousand pieces due to her nervousness; she could feel the sweat dripping from her forehead as she moved slowly and swiftly up the stairs. She reached the last floor and started exploring the rooms. She saw a tiny room deep in the dark corner with the tiniest glow of light coming from it. She took a deep breath and walked it's way. She burst the door open and was shocked to find...nothing. There was nobody there.
Not a single moving thing.
"What the hell?" She murmured to herself silently.
She turned away and got out of this creepy tiny room.As she was about to head towards the stairs, she accidentally stepped on something; her mother's necklace. What was it doing here? Her mother must be somewhere here; her parents.
