Chapter 5
Allina POV
All of a sudden I sat bolt upright in bed. I heard something at the window!
I look at my alarm clock that reads: 8:34. Ok yeah I know I went to bed early but I was tired and this day wasn’t so great.
I left after what Halliot said and spent the rest of the day in my room.
I’m just going to give up now…
I was the one that found the cloth and I figured all the stuff out, why does she want me to not help?
I lie back in bed but jump up and smack my skull on the ceiling when I hear another noise.
Ouch…
One of the disadvantages of having a loft bed.
I hear the same noise again but I don’t go down to see what it is, I can tell just by sitting up here.
It was a clinky sound against glass, coming from the window and it bounced off. Obviously stones. Not somebody breaking in… throwing rocks at someones window means you’re angry at them and want to break the window or something… but they weren’t heavy clinks they were light… pebbles! You can’t break a window with pebbles, therefore nobody was trying to break my window cause they were angry… somebody wanted to get my attention! Somebody was waiting down there for me! Okay, but who… I’m not going to the window if it’s some stranger…it’s not one of the girls… The throw was too accurate. My room is on the third floor and my window goes inwards. This person has good throwing technique… a boy I’m guessing….Somebody who is a pitcher!!! Jaxon!!!
Yeah, I know that he plays baseball because I googled his school after I came home… he doesn’t have Facebook, Instagram or any social media! Suspicious, right?…
Anyways since he told us which school he went to I figured there might be some info on him on the school website. And I found his name underneath the baseball team. And yeah… My search pretty much ended there.
I climb down the ladder and open the window.
On the street stands Jaxon with something in his hands.
“Allina! Come quick!” He yells urgently.
“What are you doing here? I barely know you!” I reply as I grab my coat.
“Just come.” He says impatiently.
I close the door and tiptoe downstairs.
I hear Mom walking in the kitchen.
Ughhhhhhhhh…
I have to get past them without them noticing.
Luckily I’m used to this.
I go to the bathroom on the second floor and climb on to the balcony. Nobody uses this bathroom since its the guest bathroom so I don’t think anyone will notice. I prop a book against the door so it won’t lock me out.
Then I swing myself over the edge of the balcony and hang on the edge.
I let go and land with a thud on the grass.
I walk round the side to the road and stand beside Jackson who is watching the front door.
“Hello are we going to go yet?” I ask grudgingly.
Jaxon jumps back with fright.
“Sheesh! I didn’t see you there. How did you get there?” He questions nervously.
