Frank sat down on the ground of the cemetery, gently pulling little Gerard to sit beside him.
"Hi, honey." He hoped that somehow, Gerard was listening. "I'm here with Gee. He's getting bigger every day. I think he's gonna start talking soon. I'd be scared if he didn't, he's two now."
The wind swept through the oak tree that loomed over Gerard's grave. Frank got a chill.
"I miss you." His voice cracked and he wiped a tear before it fell. "It's been four years and it still hurts so goddamn bad."
He shook his head. "Anyway, I was thinking about how great of a father you would've been. Little Gerard's gonna grow up knowing that you're also his dad. He's such an angel. You'd've loved him. He looks so much like you sometimes it makes me cry. He has your laugh. I know we did the right thing, saving some of yours to have a baby later on. Now I'll always have a little piece of you. The surrogate, Lindsey, she was nice. She was so nice."
"He looks so much like you." Frank cried softly. "He draws and god, he's got your smile."
"I love you, babe. I'll always love you."
He slowly stood up, placing red roses beside the headstone. His son put down the rainbow colored daises he'd picked out from the store.
Frank smiled, picking up tiny Gee and holding him on his hip. "C'mon, Gee, let's go get ice cream."
