John sighed, the long school corridors were dull and plain as normal. Nothing was less interesting than walking down them, knowing that the destination was his one dreaded class - maths. Yes, the boy was good at the sciences and was able to do maths, but it didn't stop him from hating the lesson with a passion. None of his friends were in the top set, meaning the boy sat alone, left to think about maths. Dull.

Word had been spread around the school of a new boy and, to quote Mary, he was 'tall, dark and handsome'. Pfft, as if. No boys in that school were handsome, John could tell you that for a fact. He was very open about his bisexuality for someone of seventeen, more open than most in the school due to the fact that he really couldn't care less about what people thought. It wasn't that John hadn't experienced any sort of bulling about his sexuality, god no, but it was all fairly minor. The odd look here, whispering there, but most of that had dried up since one of the most popular boys in the school came out as gay. Now that shocked everyone, including John.

The boy glanced up and could see the door to dreaded maths. He groaned, knowing he couldn't linger forever. With one push, the door open and he walked in.

An hour later, John was sat in his usual spot in the canteen with his friends, staring over at the far wall and at the girl who played on his mind.

"Have any of you seen him yet?" Mary asked, grinning at the others, though answered before the others could, "I have, he's gorgeous!"

John sighed, they were obviously talking about the new boy.

"He was waiting for the bus yesterday after speaking to the head master, oh my God you should have seen him Molly, I literally died!" Mary giggled to the shorter girl, sitting across from her at the table.

Molly found a blush creep to her cheeks and she looked away, "Mary!" She said helplessly, "You know who I like..."

Mary snorted and rolled her eyes, looking over to the table of boys, "Yeah, Jim." She signalled to the boy who appeared to be trying to set another boy's hair on fire and turned back to Molly, giving her a wicked grin, "Trust me, ten times better than Jim easily."

It was at this point when the rest of the group joined them. Phillip Anderson and Sally Nonovan sat down at the table. They greeted the girls before looking over to John who sat daydreaming at the other side of the room, more specifically possibly the prettiest girl in the room. Anderson rolled his eyes,

"You know, Irene is going to realise you're practically stalking her sooner or later, you may as well introduce yourself now." Anderson snorted, giving John a look showing that the pair weren't the best of friends. John blinked and then registered what Anderson had said before giving him a glare, though stopped,

"You're right." He said, eyes moving over to Irene, who stood alone, leaning against the wall seductively, "Wish me luck."

The whole group stared at John.

Sometimes all that is needed to make a dull life more interesting is a simple twist of fate. John stood, picking up his bag. He began to walk slowly over to the other side of the room and to Irene, mentally planning a speech of some sorts. John felt his palms begin to sweat with nerves as he approached the girl.

Irene looked up as she saw John walking towards her. She knew immediately what he wanted. The girl smirked slightly, deciding he would be worth some fun.

"John, is it?" Irene smiled, interrupting what John was about to say. He simply blinked and then nodded, "Good," the girl continued, "I was wondering how long it would take for you to come over here."

John could almost feel himself blush slightly so looked away, hoping Irene didn't see, which of course she did. He closed his eyes, gathered himself and began to speak, "I was wondering about going ou-"

John felt something hit him and he stumbled forwards and away from the person who had fallen into him. He glanced towards Irene, wondering whether to apologise or not when he noticed she was staring at someone else, biting her lip seductively. John frowned and turned though was amazed at what he saw.

Behind John stood the new boy. He was everything Mary had described and much more. He had dark, messy curls which stood above his pale-skinned face. His eyes seemed both green and blue at the same time, though had a shimmer to them which seemed to hold any gaze. His prominant cheekbones only made his perfect face more defined. John gulped, not allowing his eyes to travel down the boy's body, but he knew what he would have seen: tall frame with large chest and shoulder muscles.

Though when John blinked out of his daze he realised that the boy was frowning at him. He stood uncomfortably still, looking down at John, his eyes trying to calculate something which seemed impossible.

John had to blink a few times to make sure he was seeing correctly before glancing quickly towards Irene. The girl was now licking her lips towards the boy and had one eyebrow raised, he obviously seemed the better option than John.

"Um... I... um..." John said, looking away, not sure how to deal with the two extremely beautiful people around him. He coughed, though was surprised when the boy extended a hand towards him,

"Sherl-" He began before the hand was taken by Irene,

"Irene Adler." She said, linking arms with the boy and began to lead him away. John saw the boy flinch with the contact by Irene and then glanced back towards John as if he was sad not to have been able to speak with him. Obviously John's thoughts were wrong when Sherlock's face became blank and he began to walk off with Irene.

For a moment, John just stood there, not knowing exactly what to do. Though soon he felt eyes on him and glanced towards his table to see every single one of his friends gawking at him. The boy just shrugged and sighed, walking back over, though not before noticing the love-sick gaze of Molly looking towards the new boy.
